Best atomizer, cartomizer or clearomizer for vegetable glycerin base e-juice

Hi,

What is the best way to vape 100% vegetable glycerin base e-juice? In terms of the tank (sorry I couldn't find out the exact term) such as atomizers, cartomizers and clearomizers? Is there a certain mechanical trait I should be specifically looking for? Or a model? I ask because I heard vegetable glycerin is a lot thicker among other things than propylene glycol and can clog up your tank.

Thank you in advance

I use pure VG plus nic and flavor in my DIY juice. Pure VG doesn't exactly clog your tank, but it's more difficult for the juice to wick properly, so you can end up with dry hits. You don't want those (imagine vaping a burning tire). The easiest way to avoid that is to drip instead of using a tank. If you think that's too much work (I do), then I've been having pretty good luck with a Kayfun clone. One thing to watch out for, though, is that the nano mod (which makes the Kayfun shorter) also affects the proper wicking of juice to the coils, which can lead to more dry hits.

Some people advise mixing some distilled water into your VG to thin it. That might also work if you experience dry hits.

Anything which uses a wick (cartomizer or clearomizer) is going to have potential issues with 100% undiluted Vg to be perfectly honest. You may find your wicks can handle it, or you may find that you will need to dilute it with some Pg or distilled water.

Some e-liquid vendors who do custom-made flavors can be requested to use a "tank friendly" Vg, but my guess is all that they end up doing is add some distilled water.

The best way to vape 100% Vg is to drip on a 510 dripping atomizer, a rebuildable atomizer, or with a bottom feeding box mod like a Reo.

I have vaped 100% Gylcerin USP right out of a Smok carto. That's no flavoring, no water, no nicotine no nothing but glycerin USP. The tricky part is loading the glycerin into the the carto filler with it's heavy viscosity (thickness). The first dozen or so drops into a carto will need to be forced into the filler material. Giving the carto a thermometer shake with every three drops of the first twelve will accomplish this task. The easiest way to fill a carto with 100% VG or high percentage VG is to use a hypodermic syringe and inject the VG into the filler material starting with the bottom of the carto and releasing it slowly for the entire length of the filler material. That's what I do.

With a carto tank care must be taken to have enough holes or slots in the carto to allow proper wicking of the viscous VG. Here, I'm using four holes punched into the carto for 95/5 VG/H2O unflavored nicotine. I make the holes larger during the winter. VG is thicker when cold.

It's much easier to vape high percentage VG with a dripping atomizer. It's more difficult to use high percentage VG in clearos because of the limited wicking capability. Vaping high percentage VG can be easy with an RBA if enough wicking is provided.
