Battery wrap question

Today I re wrapped a battery for the first time, and found it pretty easy except for one little problem. Both ends of the wrap are kind of curled up around the edges as shown in the pics below. I could not get them to lay flat along the edge. What causes this?

Maybe it needed more heat to shrink a bit more? I mean either higher temperature or more time.
My question to you: how did you manage to keep the white ring at the top in its place while blowing? Mine are always blown away :-(

PMJI, I use self-adhesive insulating rings from Illumn. They make wrapping much easier to do.

I use a small pen like torch using fast movement so as to not let it heat the battery too much. I tried the wife's blow dryer, but didn't like it.
I tried heating the edges as much as I dared, but it didn't help.

I'm now considering getting a heat gun for battery wrapping, they aren't that expensive. What is a good temp range for heating that is less likely to over heat a battery?

I have one of these and it Works Great for all kinds of things.

For Battery Wrapping though, I like to use a Hair Blow Dryer. Things happen Slower. And you don't have to have the Exact Distance like you do sometimes when using a Heat Gun.

The Curl you are getting in your Photos can be caused by the Piece of Wrap being a Little Long to start with. Just about All of the Pre-Cut Battery Wraps I have bought are a little Too Long. And need to be trimmed by an 1/8" of so.

I use one at 150 degrees Celsius. It takes just a few seconds. The battery does not get overheated.

I use a 1500 watt hair dryer and lots of slow back and forth motion. So far, all my wraps look good. I do turn the battery after the first couple of passes and hit the other side.

You might want to try wraps from several vendors as you order other things. Maybe it's a quirk in a single supplier.

FWIW, mine came from Kidney Puncher.

Some might not like buying at FT but just getting battery wraps they have sets of 50 and 100 in four colors and they do work and are cheap. I picked up a fifty pack for under two bucks and free shipping(unless you need them immediately)?? They also have the entire tubing rolled and you cut it as needed for a wrap for $2.15
