somewhere
I had gastritis before I started vaping that was caused by high doses of ibuprofen but healed up with no problems for several years. Since I started vaping I have bouts of it very often and am currently getting over one. My doctor told me I need to quit vaping that as long as I am ingesting nicotine in any form it will be a problem me or for anyone with upper GI issues.

I can't find the post right now, but somewhere here I learned from someone very involved with vaping and health that nicotine can make some types of gastritis worse (ulcerative colitis is what I think it was). It can actually help other types, like Crohn's Disease...although smoking to get the nic will make that condition worse. I have Crohn's and that is exactly what I have experienced.

Another thing that will give me gut hell is PG. I get no such unsavory issues (similar to those you describe) with VG juices.

In April I had a really really bad case of gastritis - painful, went to ER and was surprised to find that was all it was - the Dr. said a "hellacious" case of gastritis lol. Fortunately taking Prilosec helped clear it up and get me back to normal and pain free again.

My Dr. suggested it may have been stress that brought it on and to avoid stress.

I took prilosec for 5 or 6 weeks before it was completely cleared up. I also drank lots of apple juice and water and avoided acidic foods. The dosage I took was higher than the typical recommended dose on the box, but was what my doctor recommended because it was such a bad case of gastritis. I have a bad memory, but it was at least double the dosage, maybe 3x the standard dosage? But like I said, it was what my Dr. recommended. I also used a heating pad on my stomach for pain too, as that is one of my fav things to use when I'm not feeling well. lol.

You say you avoided acidic foods but were you smoking or vaping during the time you took prilosec? My Doctor tells me my gastritis was brought on by smoking but I know it was due to extreme stress. If you were still smoking/vaping while taking Prilosec and it worked for you then I am going to ask the Dr for it.

I didn't smoke cigs but I did vape still. Tho since I was feeling so badly I vaped less than normal. Prilosec is an over the counter drug, though you may want to see what dosage your doctor recommends anyhow, since my doctor recommended a much higher dosage than on the package and if he hadn't I don't think it would have worked as well. After awhile I cut the dosage down as I started to feel like I was getting better.

100% VG at 18 to 24 mg

Then it might be the nic is too high, or you are swallowing it some. It will do that, for sure. Or it could be unrelated, but try cutting back on the nic and see.

It could be a particular flavor doing it too. Capella French Toast flavoring in my DIYs does a number on my gut, probably from cinnamon, but others can be a problem too. Commercial juices can often be over-flavored (>20%), and some flavors really do cause problems for some people.

Additionally a few do get upset stomach from VG juices, but if you have been vaping this for a while without issues, its probably the nic level. And of course, it could be a stomach bug or some intestinal disease, or one of several nasty things that can occur if you have quit smoking recently.

I think Kurt is on the mark wrt to swallowing. If i get a tiny drop of my juice on my tongue it starts to irritate the crap out of my throat and I can feel it go down the old tubes (I'm talking about unflavored). I was thinking about this the other day, and I'm guessing that years from now it will come out that nic juice can actually cause a bit of a chemical esophagitis/gastritis. It is after all a known mucosal irritant.

And BTW Kurt Nic is a treatment for tenesmus in the context of Ulcerative Colitis :)

of course not smoked preferably, we normally prescribe a patch, but many UC patients do smoke because intuitively they learn that it decreases painful contractions in the lower GI.
