I would assume that it they are changing from the ceramic wicks to cotton in the Atlantis that they are doing the same for the Nautilus...
I suspect mine that came in vapemail 10 days ago are the new cottons... they're lasting 3 times as long! Saaaaaaaaweeeeeeet!
Your cotton coils last longer than the ceramic ones? I was under the impression that the cotton goes bad faster. I've got a Subtank and I'm having to replace the wick every few days.
Thanks Darryl, sorry if I came of like a jerk, I certainly wasn't having a go at you. I was just surprised to hear of the long life in the cotton wicks.I cant think of any other reason why my new batch of coils is lasting so much longer, can you?
I have the same on my subtank, but I know why there. I use 80-100% VG and if I chain vape the coils drys out and I've burned many. If I use a thinner (higher PG) juice I do not have that issue with the ST.
As for the info I received from Aspire USA & Aspire China... believe it, or don't. No skin off my nose! LOL!! They released a statement over a month ago on their support forum that they were looking into organic cotton wicks due to the many complaints over their use of potentially dangerous ceramic (silica) wicks. I believe that they also did so to stay competitive with Kanger, Smok, and all the other sub ohm clearos that use OC. Then, as Tearose50 posted, they stated the same for all BVC coils today on their forums. I have no reason to not believe them. I'll autopsy all my dead ones eventually to rewick and recoil them, then I will know.

I just had a quick look at the Aspire site (not their forums), and couldn't see any official statement. The most recent 'news' post was regarding the chromed brass vs stainless steel of the Atlantis). To me I think it's important that the company release an official statement, rather than just some staff member replying to emails & forum posts. Of all the reading of info that is coming from Aspire staff, there is quite a bit of misinformation and convolution in their responses. I figure this could be partly down to the staff's English skills. They need to make this clear. It seems that a lot of them really don't know what their talking about (which is quite scary, how uneducated are these people?), and they should be authorised to be proving poor quality information.
Has anybody posted opinions or reviews of the new OC coils for the Atlantis? I got a package of them in my last order of replacements from MBV and wasn't expecting it. I noticed the wick was much whiter when I took it out of the package. I'm on my third tank through it and I don't think I like them. Flavor went down the tubes and to even get close to what I was getting from the old style coil at 30W, I had to go up to 41. Now, I am using max VG juice. I'm just wondering if maybe it's having trouble with it?
At 30W, no flavor at all, but plenty of clouds. Not really a dry hit, just...nothing.
At 35W, a little flavor, but still nothing close to what I used to get.
41W gets me an acceptable amount of flavor, but there's a slightly bitter aftertaste.
If I go much higher, I start getting dry hits.
I disliked it enough that I went to Aspire's website and checked the scratch off code, and they are authentic.
Any ideas? My guess is I'm gonna have to find something else to use that works well with max VG.
EDIT: A friend of mine is using one of the new coils in his and says he's having no trouble, but I think he uses 50/50 juice.
I cant think of any other reason why my new batch of coils is lasting so much longer, can you?
It has been confirmed at the Aspire customer service site that the Aspire BVC coils, sometimes called K1 BVC's, are now also cotton.
It sure seems that card in the box is the indicator of which boxes are all cotton, but I haven't seen that confirmed by Aspire.
It seems that there may be versions with larger holes, just like the nauti's, that are an interim version that have larger holesand use the material wrap overlaying some cotton.
"Dear Customer,
It is the same with our BVC series coils for K1 and BVC series clearomizer.
Have a nice day!"
Google "Aspire Different revisions of BVC Coils" for link to the correspondence with Aspire re the changes. Not sure if OK to post link here.![]()
