The strange thing is -I have never had an allergy to anything but this sure sucks and I was down to 2 cigs a day. I do plan on trying again after this clears up but will go very delicately and wait a few days between vaping for reactions -also going to organic everything and leaving out p/g and citrus (but had only used 2 favours in the short time I vaped) It may be additives they put in these juices -only trial will tell --G/Luck to you too and update me along the way please

Just checking on how you are doing now Irony ? Are you still not vaping ? I have quit too about 9 days but I only vaped for 1 week I am still having hives and awful itch --now worried that this might become chronic and beating myself up for not having researched and given thought to an allergic reaction and only briefly vaped the 1st few days.

I was hospitalized for life-threatening asthma as a teenager due to airborne allergens. If I really am allergic to something in e-liquid that I am vaping, it would be the first thing that I inhaled that did not cause breathing problems. Without a proper allergy test, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions.

Eczema and other rashes can be caused by stress alone, no allergens are required. Ah, the never ending cycle of getting a rash from stress which only causes more stress. I chased my own tail with that line of thought for at least 6 weeks when my eczema started. It is in complete remission now, and I only need to apply regular lotion after bathing.

Quitting smoking can have some very irritating side-effects, literally.

I was curious if there has been any progress with your issues Schnarph?

I started experiencing some itchiness on fingers/hands and (oddly) scapula and pecs. can't say its definitely pg related although as chance would happen : I've since then been smoking 100% VG (was smoking something with about 70/30)

I also decreased a certain med - so I'm thinking it was probably that although that drug has so many side effects i can't be sure.

It could also just be me 'growing into' the eczema/psoriasis issues my dad has that seem to run in his family.

After using VG only for a few months, I am pretty much certain that PG is not the issue for me. My eczema comes and goes but only in one or two small patches at a time. I won a small bottle of e-liquid in a contest that must have a fair amount of PG in it based on it's viscosity, and after trying it a few times I haven't noticed any particularly bad effects from using it. Since I've stocked up on VG juices I don't have any good reason to switch back to anything with PG in it. I'm missing out on a large portion of flavor concentrates for DIY and the juice vendor availability is sparse to put it mildly, but I'm finding enough PG free options to keep me vaping.

I still don't know the initial cause of my eczema, but I have found good ways to treat the symptoms. Sarna, a steroid free anti-itch cream, is fantastic for itch relief. Keep the inflammation clean and moisturized when possible, and don't scratch. Inexpensive hand lotion is working as well as anything else. If the skin is broken and/or weeping, anti-biotic ointment and gauze pads or other bandages heal the area quicker than anything. Don't stop treating the area until it looks 100% "normal".

I'm not a doctor but even if I was, this is only what has been working for me. The main reason I started this thread and kept up with it is to let other e-cigarette users know about my experience with a coincidental outbreak of eczema and my initial use of e-liquids. I can only guess how many users have blamed health issues on vaping, but there are a few people that really can't use PG at all. Vaping isn't for everyone, but after failing at every other method to quit smoking I had to try and make it work for me, which it has. I'm already past the 6 month mark, and looking forward to my 1 year cigarette free anniversary!

I have discovered the cause of my eczema, it is not related to vaping. The cause is the extremely hard and slightly sulfuric well water I use to take a shower. I thought it might be a coincidence since I had no respiratory problems when vaping. Others that regularly use water from my well for bathing also developed eczema, and they have never vaped or used any tobacco products for that matter. I have been vaping e-liquid with up to 25% PG for the past 2 months with no signs of an eczema outbreak or any other negative effects.

This is both good and bad news for me. I can vape PG and not worry about it, but I have no choice about the water source for my bath. I apply inexpensive hand lotion to my feet and hands after bathing and that takes care of the dry skin issue perfectly. Conditions have not changed in months and I don't have anything else to add. Someday I'll get a water softener and filtration unit, but I had one before and it couldn't handle the extremely hard water here. In any case, it has nothing to do with vaping.

I apologize for leaving this thread for so long without an update, but at this point I think it can be closed (if necessary). Thank you.
