I've been vaping for about three months now... In the last month, I've noticed that it seems as though every flavor tastes just terrible... Meaning a total flavor experience so far of about one hundred flavors, with twenty-one that I currently still have on had right now (as some were thrown or given away right after I bought them if I genuinely didn't like the flavor). Anyway, this is different than a typical dislike for certain flavors... It tastes as though all of my flavors are chemical-y, or soap flavored. There's also a very obtrusive smell if I blow any vapor out of my nose instead of my mouth. Most flavors are great when I first get them, but within 24-72 hours, I can't stand them anymore and am fervently changing the tank in an effort to find something I can stand. I have checked my equipment and my coils are good, my batteries are charged and the voltage is not set so low as to not produce vapor, nor the opposite - it's not burning the fluid either. (I'm using an Innokin iTaste CLK, and an Innokin iTaste CLK 1280 with a 16D plastic clearomizer from Innokin for the most part, but also use two Kanger EVOD batteries paired with Protank 2 Minis regularly as backup... So that's four different units in total that get used regularly).
I have I have heard of something called, "vapor's tongue," in which regular vapors temporarily lose their ability to taste flavor. Is this the same thing as what I'm describing? I can certainly say flavorful flavors don't taste like much more than soap and chemicals anymore these days. I've been having trouble finding, "all day flavors," from the beginning though... I do have one though, and this flavor hasn't started to taste nasty either, however it's a pretty dull flavor these days even though it's not offensive (it's Guava 12mg, two extra shots, 50/50 PG/VG from MBV). I'm actually almost done with a 236ml bottle I've been working on now for a couple of months - I bought some other big bottles but had to toss them because of this flavor-hate thing that's been going on - those were Cantaloupe with three shots, Cheesecake with two shots, and Strawberry with no extra shots from MBV. The ironic thing is that I liked them when I first sampled them in 15ml bottles.
Oh yeah, I've also noticed that any sort of citrus flavor is overwhelming and burns my throat and tongue, i.e. rainbow sherbet, orange peach, l'orange dreamsicle, etc. I've really not enjoyed citrus from the beginning however and have never bought any citrus flavors period however, Well, there's one... L'orange Dreamsicle is actually better now (than when I got it), and is one of the only few all day vapes I'm comfortable with... (Totaling: Guava and Blue Moo from MBV and L'orange Dreamsicle from Baus/VapingMe.com) Basically, when I got it, which was the first flavor I ever tried, the orange note was so sugary and overwhelming that it was disgusting - like an orange pop with spoonfuls of white sugar added, no cream flavor at all. It's been three months and I decided to try it again and since it's steeped, it actually tastes proper to its name and is a really great flavor and now a favorite of mine.
This brings me to steeping though - I've noticed a LOT of flavors taste really bad to me after they've steeped, even if I liked them when they were fresh. Is that just a matter of personal preference? For example, whipped cream, sweet cream and french vanilla taste awful now that they're steeped all the way to dark, dark brown color - although honestly the whipped cream never tasted good to begin with. I'm just kind of confused with all this... I'm trying some other companies this month instead of MBV - Giant Vapes, Bionic, and Ahlusion. Maybe that will make a difference, I hope.
