Latest update 16.15pm 28.10.2012

Tuesday, October 21st 2012, I celebrated my fourth anniversary since I threw my last cigarette away.
I feel blessed because I am sure that quitting cigarettes has extended my life.

I want to do something special and give something back to a life which has given me a wealth of experiences.
Not all of us are so lucky, my daughter works with a young boy called Jack whose life changed overnight. One
day he was a lad enjoying a carefree life, the next day he woke up and something was wrong; he was diagnosed
as being severely autistic. Such a sudden, life-changing event affected everyone who knew him, not least his
loving parents who were faced with a situation that all parents dread.

You can read about Jack and his Mum & Dad on their website or Facebook page. You can also discover how
a program developed in the US is helping Jack, slowly but surely, on what we all hope is a road to recovery.
Jack needs 24 hour care and the Son-Rise program, which gives Jack one to one interaction 12 hours per day,
requires some funding. Many of Jack's Team are volunteers who give their time to him, but there are still
expenses that need to be met, such as equipment, interactive toys, and not least, invaluable visits to the
Son-Rise centre in the US.

I had an idea to offer a year's supply of eliquid in a raffle, but I then thought it could be taken further.
'Joining Jack's Team' is the name of the website and Facebook page and the Team currently has 1,945 members.
My aim is to recruit a team of 500 vapers, and, as well as the free eliquid, run further fundraising events and competitions.
500 to join Jack's Team is a big target, but I believe it can be achieved. Membership is just a £2 donation and every penny
of that will go directly to Jack's next visit to the Son-Rise centre, £1,000 would be a huge help. I am donating 36 x 30ml bottles
of eliquid - three per month for one year - to the winner of a draw made from the 500 members. Other UK Vendors have been donating prizes and the prize list is now impressive!
I'm hoping we can achieve 500 members by December 31st 2012 so that the draw can take place on 1st January 2013. If you have friends who would like to join, just get them to read this. Every automated email that is sent from my own website will have a note
inviting customers to join Jack's Team.

All you need to do to join is donate £2, as a gift via Paypal to thatsnice@sky.com with Jack's Team as the reference and with your name. You will be added to Jack's Team, which I will update regularly on here.
If you do not wish to use Paypal or do not have an account, you can send a cheque to 'That's Nice Limited'.

Here's our postal address:

That's Nice Limited
Suite 112
Glenfield Park
Philips Road

I'm sure we can reach 500 members and I'm also sure that raising £1,000 would attract some positive publicity for vaping.

Even if you enter just for the chance of winning one of the amazing prizes for a £2 stake, it has to be worth it.
Seeing Jack's progress is easily worth it. There are links below to his website and Facebook page, and a message from Jack.
Thanks for your time and hopefully for your support, let's make it happen!

Hi my name is Jack Peter Armstrong, I am 8 years old and I have Autism.
My Mum and Dad are trying to help me achieve a better quality of life using the Son-Rise treatment and educational programme.
This website is to aid my ongoing progress and development and to share with family and friends all my achievements.
My Dad (Mark) went on the initial Son-rise start-up programme January 2009. We then had a room converted for me and when
dad returned we put all he had learnt into action.

Mummy (Natalie) says
At first we noticed some encouraging signs of improvement, eye contact had got better and there were days when Jack said over 5 words, maybe not always in context but speech alone was a fantastic heartwarming move in the right direction.

The programme will take years and the number of hours spent with Jack each week applying the strategies and techniques is influential towards his development towards a better quality of life, so it is important that we achieve at least 40 - 45 hours per week in the son-rise room.
To achieve the numbers of hours we asked for volunteers. Three important factors that a son – rise volunteer must have is Enthusiasm, Excitement and Energy otherwise known as the 3 E’s.

The Volunteers are such a major importance, not only with the hours they contribute to the programme but also the relationship they build with Jack as well. It is evident with Jack the more hours he spends in the room with mum, dad and his best friends (volunteers) the more relaxed, happier and improved he is with his eye contact, speech and interaction.

We are very fortunate to have a great team of volunteers helping Jack who we value very much but with 45hours+ a week to achieve we are always looking for extra help

To enhance the programme we have also acquired Out Reach Training once a month which entails a trainer visiting the home. They work with Jack in his room for part of the day under the eye of CCTV with mum, dad and volunteers observing, making notes and question for the Q&A meeting which is sat at the end of the day. The other part of the day is when mum, dad and volunteers each spend time in the room with Jack but this time under the watchful eye of the trainer, who will give feedback and answer any questions after the session. We also have a play therapist who comes from Son-Rise come and work with Jack for the whole day 1-1, and then hold questions and answers after her sessions with Jacks parents and volunteers. We also have monthly team meetings were all the team get together and pass ideas to each other and discuss games and what has worked for us and pass on to each team member.

Son- Rise Centre is based in America a consultation line is available which is really helpful when you need advice.
