When does you sense of smell return??

I've been off the analogs for three weeks but I still can't smell the past cigarette smoke in my car(which I'm sure is there) and some clothes that haven't been dry cleaned since I've quit. How long since you could "smell again".

Its diff for every one, hit me about 2 months in..but trust me you will know instantly lol


its like WHAM I smell evrrything now!!!!!! Ewwwww I can smell everything now, I didnt know the guy ar work smelled like that.....

I agree that it is different for each of us. Wait until your taste buds open up for you and you start tasting things differently. Went out to dinner with a friend the other night and had fried catfish. Wow, that first taste was wonderful! My sense of smell is still spotty as sinus' are playing havoc right now.

For me, it came up after like 2 days, but I can't say I was a heavy smoker. You'll get there!

It took about 2-3 weeks for me.. Maybe drinking more water will help..

It was kinda gradual for me me, but, at about a month I was walking the dog with no lights, moonlight, or car lights on a back road. I smelled a cigarette, and lo and behold, a lady walk past me about a full minute later. She was coming towards me. I knew I could smell at that point.

That came before taste. At about 6 months, juices were just so much more distinct. Previously, I was limited to single flavor juices and so I started trying more complex flavors. Nicoticket, to me, has complex flavors. Just multiple flavor ingredients. I like them a lot now.

I've only been off cigarettes since Feb 2, but I can tell that my sense of smell is returning, however slowly. I walked out of a store last Sunday and smelled a guy smoking at least 100 feet away, and could smell it all the way to my car, a further 100 feet away.

Happened for me grilling burgers one day, I thought I died snd went to heaven, those were the best burgers I had in years

Thrasher, I had a similar thing happen when I quit cold turkey (for only a brief time) in the '80s. It was with peas. I had no idea peas tasted that good!

I look forward to getting my sense of taste back, too.
