Harder to draw...less vaper. For me, the change is subtle. I don't usually notice the difference in vape quality until AFTER I've struggled with a carto and replaced it.

The type of liquid you use will affect how long it works well. Thinner liquids, say 80% pg or more, will last for a couple weeks potentially, sometimes up to a month. Clearer liquids also give the longest life in a filler based carto like the Boge. Reduced draw and loss of flavor are good clues, but the end of it's life shows up when you top it off. If it seems weak but you can only add a few drops before it seems flooded, it's pretty clogged up with particulates or old gunky juice. You may be able to clean it and get more time with it, but that depends on your willingness to take a few minutes and your budget. If you search on cleaning cartos here on ecf you'll find a number of methods and there are also some youtube videos. Some people toss them in a baggie when they seem pretty well used up and then clean a batch at one time. Others keep them for emergencies or the Zombie apocalypse, while some toss them out at the first sign of reduced performance.
Keeping the coil wet at all times is the key to the longest life and best flavor, so top them off regularly. They last a long time in carto tanks for that reason. Good luck!

For me I've noticed the taste just starts to get bad. After I've blamed it on everything else I change the carto and it tastes good again. Once you experience this you'll know.
Me too! You'd think I'd learn by now, but I always change the carto as a last resort. Then after I take my first draw, it's like...
"Oh. It was the carto."
word. its always after i fidget with my VV device for an hour that I finally just change the carto.. and bam its all better. haha. My cartos tend to last anywhere from 10-15ml of liquid. and I like heavy VG, dark juices.
About 15 ml per XL carto when I used lightly flavored, mostly PG juice. When I started using unflavored 95/5 VG/H2O I could go as long as 25-30 ml. As I've grown to appreciate the DIY unflavored taste more (it's not without taste) I've gone back to swapping out cartos at 15-20 ml.
I use a higher PG so for me it's all about the taste, when the taste goes it's time to change.
If you're using NLA's, good luck. I think their liquid is more the problem though. I got this coffee crap, just wont vape in the cartos. Tried everything from the condom method to drippin in the wick, just no bueno. Thing is, other liquids work fine...
