Vapourless/ Invisible Juice...Anyone Tried It? And Could I DIY It?

I was amazed when I came across this concept. Too good to be true? Sounds like some voodoo magic. Well, it exists - and I've seen a few reviews on YouTube. JAC Vapour and Swag are two makers whom I've identified so far...
Now this has fair stimulated my curiosity! I just have to try it.

Firstly - wondered if anyone here had tried them and whether you'd like to share your experiences...?

Secondly, I'm just getting into making my own DIY juice... So you can guess what my next question will be... :)
Namely - what kind of base would I have to use to achieve this?

Per the JAC Vapour website, their Clear Steam Vapourless e-liquid is 90% PG + 10% water.

from the 2nd link above........

"Our Clear Steam vapourless e liquid, for example, contains 90% PG and 10% water to create our famous vapourless vape."

As to the vape, have you ever vaped a high PG e-liquid? It produces one heck of a strong throat hit. Vaping high PG may be too much for some people.

I would strongly suggest trying some of JAC's Clear Steam juice to see if you like a 90% PG vape before jumping into making it.

For DIY flavorless juice all you need is PG, distilled water and nicotine. You do not want to use regular water. Then you add whatever concentrated flavors you desire.

I never saw these juices but my bet is that it's simply just high PG juices. like 90-100% PG. Extra high PG juices won't be 100% vaporless, but almost. PG produces very little vapor. VG is where the cloud comes from. Wit PG, you will get some thin vapor on exhale but it will dissipate almost immediately.

I just looked up the JAC vapor juice and indeed it is just PG. Actually it's PG and water. 90% PG & 10% Water. That water probably even kills the little bit of PG vapor.

So to answer your question: Yes you can make this. You just mix your juice with 90% PG and use 10% distilled water (must be distilled) in place of the VG. So long as your flavoring is PG only (and like 90+% are) then this is easily made just like any other juice.

Okay, instead of just picking other's brains, I did a little research for myself...

This seems to answer most of my questions about the water. Leaving it here in case anyone else finds it useful.

    Thanks.

    UPDATE:
    IMG_20240318_004054488.jpg

Here's my set up. Couple of shot glasses (washed and sanitised) - distilled water and PG, respectively.
Just did a little 10gram, zero nic version to see if it worked. Added a little of my favourite tobacco essence...
    RESULT:
By Jove - it works! Like a flippin' charm. :)

What's actually beautiful is, you CAN have something of a cloud if you want - just take a shallow lung hit and exhale quickly, and it's quite chunky, considering. But - hold it for just one second (and really, I mean only just 1 sec is all it takes) - and, just like magic... totally invisible vape.
    Very controllable.

This was used in my RDA, at a resistance of 0.39ohms at 35 watts, by the way. So exactly the same set up and power I normally use. I'm quite pleased at how interchangeable it is in practice.

All I need to do is add nicotine (selecting a 100% PG nic-shot) and I'd say that's my pub/ concert/ cafe/ public transport rig sorted (judge me if you wish) ;).

It did feel a touch harder on the old lungs than my standard VG mix. Even without nicotine. But I suppose that's to be expected. It won't get used a lot. I only want this for going out in public and visiting family & friends living in smoke/vape free households.

This was only a brief experiment. After a few puffs in the mirror, I've cleaned out my atty and gone back to my usual VG mix. Since the label on my distilled water says "Not for medical purposes". I'll source some that states that it is. Just to be on the safe side. And maybe store it in the fridge.

Thanks for reading. I hope this will be useful for anyone glancing in. Any further advice is welcome.

DI water is different than plain distilled water as explained in that article but in addition to that, it can be corrosive. So personally I'd avoid it because of that ability to potentially corrode and pull its missing ions out of the kanthal/nichrome/ss/etc wire.
Thank you. I will bear that in mind.
My first thoughts on reading that article were, that it might be a safe option to have the minerals removed. Since I don't know what's involved with vaping minerals.

As long as it's steam distilled with nothing added, I would consider it more safe to vape.

Duly noted. More research needed. Thank you! (Y)

Well if it's any help, people somewhat regularly use distilled water in their DIY juice, especially those who go max or full VG. They use it for a thinner. However, probably not anywhere near 10%. Point is, distilled water is what's been used for over a decade. The stuff you buy at the grocery store. Nothing special.

    It is of help. Thanks.

It's tricky - I'm in the UK. Everywhere locally I ask for 'distilled' water, someone points me to a shelf and it's always de-ionised. I will have to buy it online. Plenty on Amazon.
I've been familiar with distilled de-ionised water for decades. I've always kept it in the studio for mixing paint in airbrushes and small spray guns. I never considered it fit for human consumption. Never bought straight distilled before.

Interesting. In the USA, far as I know, it's the opposite. Distilled is the most readily available to the average consumer in the average store. At least I've never noticed de-ionized water anywhere.

You might want to check some UK-specific venues like PlanetoftheVapes forum and see what UK DIYers use for water. Could be de-ionized water is perfectly fine for vape juice.

I can only surmise it's because British water is generally good to drink and ranges from hard to soft across the country. People's main consideration is kettles and steam irons, which suffer from hard deposits. The US is a massive landmass, and I guess it must vary from state to state. Here, specialist waters tend to be for cars, machinery, and medical purposes. I've always bought de-ionised from hardware stores, in the car maintenance section.

In the USA, they sell distilled water in the drinking water aisle with all the other waters like spring, filtered, mineral, etc.

They don't do that here. Ask for distilled water and they'd probably look at you blankly... Probably just point you to a bottle of spring water. Or refer you to the nearest petrol station.

Also, I've never met anyone who drinks it.

Yeah I don't know anyone hat drinks it either. It's actually more expensive than real drinking water (store brand). Not sure why it's in the drinks aisles.
