The Post Office is not affected by the current government shut down. I don't see it being shut down anytime in the near future.
UPS and FedEx will still deliver packages, sure they be a more expensive delivery method, but they exist.

My spouse works as a civilian for the gubment.....the usps is not affected as stated above. I didn't even know that til my spouse told me.......so we're good.
Cool ! Thanks roonies, good to know that my bills will still get to me even if they can't pay to keep the other govmt stuff open.
IRS and DEA are still open although customer support at IRS is closed.
My father works for the USPS. They are being told that they will keep on moving mail. I would not worry about this at this time.

The Post Office is mostly self-funded and a government shutdown only impacts agencies that rely on money from the United States Treasury. Even though this is a federal agency, the mail will still go out largely as normal. Some behind the scenes services will be effected, such as the Postal Regulatory Commission and the Office of the Inspector General, but few consumers will see a difference
