Just thought I'd stop in and say hello.
I folded some way back in the day, as far as I can tell it was in the first year or two of the folding@home project. Noticed the ECF team and thought I'd get back into it, help out the team and a good cause.
Rig is nothing special, AMD fx-6200, and ASUS AMD HD 7950. I run a second GPU a AMD 6850, but it isn't really up to the folding task. Slow and the fan is loud, so I've stopped folding on that. It didn't make much on PPD anyway.
My PPD is still decent at about 93k. The PC is used as a gaming machine, and as part of the home theater.
If anyone has a suggestion for a fairly priced ($300ish) GPU, that runs cool and quiet while folding with decent PPD I wouldn't be against upgrading the 6850.
Quiet being the key factor, don't want to hear it while we are watching movies or playing games. My 7950 doesn't get over 50c and the fan stays running under 15% to maintain that temp.
