First build. Twisted mess rda

OK. So I got a shiny twisted mess rda for Christmas. Bought myself a wee toolkit with ohm reader and coil twister thing etc. some A1 kanthal and Japanese organic cotton pads. Planning to vape on my eleaf 50.

My plan is to use the steam calc and get a dual coil build to around 1/1.5 ohms.....

Am I set? Have I forgotten anything?

So built my first coil and wicked it today. Had a couple of nice tasty vales then got a slight burnt taste so I took it apart and fired it without the body on and it cought fire. I blame it out and will replace the wicks. Maybe they were too dry? Have I done something stupid?

I've had an atty catch fire a couple times before and I believe that it was due to excessive heat in the coil from undersaturated wick. Juice is flamable and when it contacts enough heat will combust. Only happened with top cap off. Also flare ups have occured when dry burning coils to clean them with minimal juice still in atty try m juice on cotton anda see if that helps

It's extremely hard to burn e-liquid, if anything is going to burn it's going to be the cotton.

Ignition point is 400°C for VG and 370°C for PG.

So how do u explai flare up with no cotton or wick
