FDA CDC once again requests e-cig users who have a cigarette disease to contact CDC (so CDC can falsely insinuate that e-cigs caused the disease)

The CDC just sent out the following e-mail. Please note that CDC sent out a nearly identical request a year or two ago (which was also exposed and discussed on ECF).

[h=1]2016 Tips Recruitment Has Begun![/h]
recruitmentbuttonps3-low-res_crop.jpg
When ex-smokers have the opportunity to tell their stories about how tobacco use has led to devastating consequences in their lives, it can be a powerful way to impact the lives of others and reach millions of Americans who want to quit smoking. For three years, the national Tips From Former Smokers (Tips) campaign has done just that, and it hopes to build on its success in 2016.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is conducting a national search to find people who are willing to participate and share their compelling stories, which in turn will save countless lives that would otherwise be lost due to the number-one preventable cause of death in the United States.Similar to previous Tips campaigns, we are conducting a national search to reach people who have experienced smoking-related health problems and are willing to share their compelling stories. We are looking for people with the following conditions:

  • [*=left]Have or have had anxiety OR depression (not both) and a serious health condition due to smoking (ages 30–60).
[*=left]Have been diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) due to smoking (ages 40–55).
[*=left]Currently serve or have served in the military and have been diagnosed with a serious health condition due to smoking (i.e., coronary artery disease/heart attack, COPD, peripheral artery disease, cancer, or stroke) (ages 30–60).
[*=left]Have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis while smoking (ages 25–60).
[*=left]Have used electronic cigarettes along with tobacco cigarettes instead of quitting because they thought it was better for their health than smoking cigarettes alone and yet they experienced a severe health problem (ages 20–60).
[*=left]Have been diagnosed with a serious health condition caused by smoking and now have a compelling positive story about the benefits experienced since quitting (ages 18–54).
If you or anyone you know qualifies, contact Mimi Webb Miller Casting by e-mail (contact@joinCDCtips.com) or by phone (toll free) (844) 274-9816http://data:image/png;base64,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. The weblink list at the bottom of the e-mail is not the correct webpage (as its a blank).

But I called Mimi Webb Miller Casting to inquire why CDC is continuing to recruit e-cig users or experimenters who suffer from cigarette diseases so that CDC can unethically and deceitfully mislead the public to believe that e-cigs caused the cigarette disease(s). Since I left a message in the voice mail box (as nobody answered the phone), I suspect they won't respond to my inquiry.

Before anyone asks why I posted this in the FDA thread, the key reason Obama's CDC has been running its disinformation campaign about e-cigs is to defend and lobby for FDA's 2009 e-cig ban and the FDA recently proposed deeming regulation (that would ban >99,9% of e-cigs, and would give the e-cig industry to Big Tobacco).

What was the response to your phone call?

I find this interesting:

We are looking for people with the following conditions:
...
Have used electronic cigarettes along with tobacco cigarettes instead of quitting because they thought it was better for their health than smoking cigarettes alone and yet they experienced a severe health problem (ages 20–60).

So they are intentionally seeking input from dual users, not vapers who don't smoke, so they can turn around and say that vaping causes the same diseases as smoking :glare: that's annoying...

Well at least if they try to pull this stunt we have clear evidence that they did this :2cool: thank you Bill!

It would be funny were they not so serious but they evidently don't want just dual users but dual users who "instead of quitting because they thought it was better for their health than smoking cigarettes alone and yet they experienced a severe health problem (ages 20–60)."

So they include their reason (not the user's reason) for dual use   True propaganda - where anyone who would contact them would automatically fit in that category regardless of their own reasons.

Not again.... I still have a copy of my old letter to them. Maybe I'll just resend it.

Don't they have more important things to worry about? Like Ebola, perhaps? Or the new Enterovirus D68 sweeping our country?

I'm guessing that last came in through the recent immigrants, who were then 'broadcast' to various parts of the nation. There will never be any proof of that but hey, it makes more sense than what they've been guessing at. It's this type of stuff why we had Ellis Island at one point in time. Now that would be 'too degrading' to send people to quarantine, etc. 'inhumane!'.

I was going to give them an "In all fairness..." pass about the dual use matter - until you pointed that out.

I am so tempted to apply. Say whatever I need to - then skewer the results at the end.

I'm doing that now with a "Web Quit" trial. I was curious to see what kind of advice was offered. The aim of the program is to direct me towards the appropriate cessation product and give me $250 (maybe). So far it's lame and boring. I have doubts I'll complete it.

It's the only way I can think of to directly attack this kind of buffoonery.

It's not a for-real serious study and therefore, doesn't deserve for-real serious partcipants.

Note they didn't ask for people who were contemplating suicide, been admitted to a psych ward, threatened to kill people, etc. etc. iow, they didn't ask about Chantix lol.

I've heard they tried something like that - looking for Chantix users who committed suicide to tell their stories. Apparently nobody came forward and thus FDA decided to remove the black box warning on Chantix :p

... or those vials of plague diseases like smallpox and anthrax they keep losing track of for some reason? :glare:

It amazes me that anybody still trusts these guys with disease control. They're really not very good at it.
