BBC Show About Fake Safety Test Marks On Ecigs

The BBC just ran a section of the show Fake Britain on bogus safety marks on ecigs. They showed ecig blister packs with the mark SGS displayed on the back. SGS is a testing body that tests electrical and other equipment for safety. The telling point was that an SGS spokesman said that they have never tested ANY ecigs for safety so any product carrying the SGS mark has a faked certificate.

So something to beware of there.

And I have to say the BBC shot itself in the foot somewhat by showing that clip of an ecig being recharged and exploding in a bar that was down to somebody using a phone charger.

I saw an article recently where China is falsifying CE, as well. If something says CE or UL it is generally recognized as meeting certain safety standards...

Yes it's a lot easier and cheaper just to print fake marks than to actually go through a rigorous test process.
