E-cigarettes sales ban considered | Society | The Observer

The Observer (Sunday Guardian) today has this article with a typically misleading headline. The article is actually about proposed legislation that doesn't exist right now to make it an offence to sell products containing nicotine to minors, and for adults buying these products for under 18s.

This would prevent parents (guardians, other concerned adults) from purchasing the products as a low-risk replacement for the combustible cigarettes their kid was smoking.

And would leave only medically approved NRT or some suicide drug as the only option. Legal as long as their over 12.
Now what happens if an ecig gets a medical approval, is this now OK for the teens to use and how will anyone tell the difference? Will you have to carry a prescription? What if the approved ecig is available without prescription like NRT?
This is what happens when you have knee jerk reactions, bad law.

(bold) So true! And the knee jerk is invariably when the market is about to correct, which then extends the original problem, or creates new ones just as bad or worse than the original. Oddly, although there was the 2009 ruling (and customs problems) but overturned, ecigs have not been affected so far, which is much longer period than most knee jerk regulations/taxes. Like computers, somewhat, legislators/meddlers were slow on the uptake. lol.
