Alcohol vs. Vodka

Most of the times, people are using vodka for cleaning. Why not using alcohol available in pharmacies?

Vodka is an ethyl alcohol and is safe for human consumption. Isopropyl alcohol, also part of rubbing alcohol, is dangerous to inhale. While it can be used for cleaning, it's important to thoroughly rinse it out afterwards. Here's a discussion about this, with a useful link on post #19

I use PGA. Works well for hardware and atties, as well as an ingredient in my DIY.

Yes, pure grain alcohol and Everclear is a brand name.

I use PGA at the end of my cleaning to flush out impurities (unless you use distilled water) and displace the water. It also dries faster than water so you can use the device sooner.

I've been using denatured alcohol mostly because it evaporates so quickly after cleaning. Then I prime it with my juice after a few mins to allow it to dry completely.

Rubbing alcohol is not dangerous and can be used for cleaning purpose as the residue would bitter your taste for 2 or 3 small puffs but after the remained liquid is soaked up then it would be clean and clear to puff again.

I can't agree with using toxic methonol (wood alcohols) like rubbing alcohol for cleaning something I'm going to vape from. I suppose if you make sure it's completely dry before you use the device, you're safe...but why risk it?
Denatured alc is "ethanol rendered unfit for internal use by addition of methanol or acetone" so I don't see that as a viable option either.
Vodka or PGA is safe and pretty near tasteless.

Only the 151, not the 192, but its still higher than any vodka.

I use Isopropyl (Rubbing Alcohol) and Ethanol (what some people call PGA), I'm wary of denatured Alcohol, although I have plenty of it around, there's no real QC that goes into it and no way to be sure of what it's actually denatured with. In theory it's all volatile enough that it would evaporate.

Isopropyl seems to act as a better solvent and often breaks down things Ethanol can't, when I use it I follow up with a water rinse and a soak in Ethanol. As someone mentioned the volatility is nice as it dries very quickly.
