Hello fellow vapers,
I have high hopes for this thread. Ultimately, I'd love to see it as a sticky. At the least, near the top of the front page where people will see it. The community will decide.
I'll try to keep this intro short. With so many people unaware of vaping and its benefits, and so many people quick to judge it, a thread like this would be helpful. I personally have lost many people to lung cancer, and I'm guessing most people can say the same. It is the leading cause of preventable death.
This thread will be a list of the people who have successfully quit smoking, or significantly cut down their amount of smoking. Hopefully it will speak volumes. Because, regardless of any arguments people may have against vaping, you CANNOT deny that it is a good thing that I have quit smoking.
I'm hoping to reach, specifically, two types of people: skeptics and those smokers who came here curious, maybe thinking (like I used to) that they'll never be able to quit smoking.
So, here's the format I'd like people to follow (with my personal answers included for reference):
1 - Were you a smoker? (Please note that if you were never a smoker, this whole thread is not for you to answer. In other words, everyone should answer yes to this first question.)
2 - If so, for how many years did you smoke?
3 - Have you ever tried to quit smoking?
4 - If you answered yes, how/with what aids did you try to quit?
5 - How long have you been vaping?
6 - How much did you smoke before you started vaping (number of cigs/day)?
7 - How much do you smoke now?
8 - Are you smoke-free?
9 - If so, how long have you been smoke-free?
My Answers:
1 - yes
2 - over 20 years
3 - yes
4 - patches, gum, acupuncture, tapering, cold turkey
5 - about a year
6 - a pack/day
7 - 0 cigs/day
8 - yes
9 - about 9 months
If this works (gets attention), awesome. If not, I still want to thank anyone who replies. Vaping has become a hobby of mine. But I am always reminding myself that vaping has likely saved my life. At the least, prolonged it.
To moderators: if this thread should be elsewhere in the forums, I apologize. Please let me know.
