Hello there,

I've experimented with mixing for over a week now and I'm getting not bad to good results so far. I was wondering which main, additive, and sweetener flavors you usually use in your mixes? Also, which sweeteners worked best for you in a certain mix?

It'd be great if you could share some of the best of each category and how it worked for you in your mixes.

I'm trying to understand the basics of mixing flavors, and I believe it starts with these three categories.

Feel free to share! :vapor:

When I first started mixing I experimented with TFA Sweetener, EM (same as Cotton Candy), and smooth. I no longer use any of them. If I want to sweeten something I use a bit of Marshmallow or Brown Sugar Extra. I really think with proper mixing, smooth is un-needed and much prefer adding the above mentioned flavors if I want to sweeten a juice. Good luck!

Cheers,
Steve

Marsmallow also gives the added benefit of adding body/creaminess to your mix

When I first began, I added sweeteners to everything. Then, I tried them without and enjoyed them much better. I found that they tended to mute flavors. If I do need something sweeter, I'll add something that also has a flavor, Catalan cream, maple syrup, marshmallow... something along those lines.

I usually stay away from additives, too. Beyond a lil saline, I find that it doesn't have a lasting affect, maybe a day or two.

I use everything under the sun as they all have their place including EM which works great in tobaccos imho. Even some of the more exotic stuff like Agave which I rarely use. I usually add a drop of TFA (Sucralose) sweetener to most 10ml mixes. With 60ml I do 4 drops or 120ml I add like 8 drops and it balances out. If I could do half a drop to a 10ml it would probably be enough.

In some rare instances a few things I feel require 2-3 drops to a 10ml mix but it depends on your own taste. If I'm replicating a candy or very sweet drink I want the vape to be sweet as whatever it was based on. If you grew up drinking sugarcane juice you might want extra super sweet ejuice.

I found the following links to be extremely helpful in my DIY mixes:

While the second one is based on edibles, I've found the the principle applies to eliquids as well with a little tweaking and the right steep time(s).

Since I mix in 2 1/2 oz. stainless steel cups I was heating my mix to about 120deg for about 10min then frothing with a bar/espresso mixer before bottling. Now I froth a couple of times just to get the aeration going, bottle it up and put it in my UC for 4 30min cycles. My mixes are ready to vape in 1-2 days but they taste so much better in 3-4 days depending on the mix.

Vape On!
