Wismec RX GEN 3 not turning on

Hello

I hadn't used my RX GEN3 in about 5-6 months and i went to start using it but the damn thing wouldn't turn on, even with direct USB connection it still will not turn on, Any ideas on what i can try?

Hi and Welcome,
Your batteries may be toast.
What brand and model of battery are you using?

If you have a volt meter you could check the state of the cell.
An external charger may be able to revive those cells, but I would recycle them and buy new.
Please avoid Ebay/Amazon or low quality vendors when buying batteries. (best vendors will depend on where you are located)

PRO TIP: Do not store batteries in devices. If you are not using the device/batteries in the next 24 hours, remove the batteries and store them in a protective case.

One efest and two Samsung 18650 batteries, i did think the batteries could be the cause but the device should still turn on with just the USB cable alone, il try charging them in an external charger and see what happens. Thanks

Not necessarily. If the batteries are dead dead, the mod probably wouldn't turn on with just the USB cable plugged in. It's not a "pass through" mod. You still need some battery power available.

Um are you using two Samsungs and an Efest TOGETHER? You really don't want to do that I don't think. Those are two vastly different batteries to properly MARRY them? Well you'd need a minister willing to do a polygamist marriage with one member a transvestite.

Hello @bnap1221, first off it sounds like you need to invest in some new batteries. Because it sounds like you have 3 different models and makes of batteries, this in vaping is a big no.

Batteries when used in pairs or sets (depending on how many batteries a mod uses), should always be the same make and model. So same capacity in mAh (milliamp hours) and same CDR (Constant Discharge Rate).

But to see if there is a problem with your mod though, could a local vape shop help you out by trying it with some loaned batteries?

It doesn't sound like a battery issue to me. I just plugged my gen3 in with no batteries in it and it came on right away.

I do want to add that using multiple different makes or models of batteries in a multi battery mod is not advised. You should always use a married set (of the same make and model) batteries to minimize stressing any one battery. But even with no batteries in the mod, it should turn on when plugged in.

Apart from the batteries as a source of problems, have you tried the Wismec update software to see if it detetcs the mod? Don't use batteries when connecting with the usb.

one great thing to consider on this mod, battery door, is well know for some closing issues, what does this mean? well, the battery door is well know to be faulty,

Do yourself a little please, go to a vape shop or ask someone 3 batteries to borrow for testing it, if new, working or well know batteries arent working either could be faulty battery door, i had one that was just needing a take a apart and assemble back, never found the problem,

Happened to mine. I shelved it for a few months when I downgraded to pods. Tried a few of my 18650 mods a few weeks back but it would fire up on 3 different sets of fully charged batteries.

I got a year and a half of daily use out of it (4ml daily) so I'm not going to complain. I got my use out of it.

I know that the gen 3 is not the best, and generally has a bad reputation on most forums. But I had a similar experience as you, though mine never really quit working or malfunctioned that I can remember. I got about 6 months of daily use of ~20ml per day out of mine. It still is fully functional. If I still used RTAs I would definitely still be using mine.

mine is the RDA' holder, and sometimes Themis RTA, they match perfect, looks amazing!
i like the most is shape and size, is the 3 battery and 300W tiniest mod ever!

It is very small for a 3 battery mod.

All of my RDAs stay on my squonk mods. Ever since I started squonking all of my non-squonk gear has been collecting dust. I never enjoyed dripping so I stuck with RTAs before I discovered squonks.

i dont trust em, but my RDA's have while sat down, stuck on RTA's at this moment, so easy to vape and enjoy, tank capacity rulez

It would solve the problem if you'd quit buying garbage. Wismec is crap but if you want to continue to waste your money then go ahead. Since you like junk why don't you replace it with a Smok mod. The problem is simple. Your junk Wismec mod is dead and you can't figure it out. Not suprising.

I'm pretty sure his is actually still fully functional. The guy with the broken one has not logged back into these forums since May 4th.

Now I can't speak for all of these gen 3s out there, but mine has been reliable as I could ask. Definitely way better made than Smok mods. Again, not the best out there for sure. But going strictly off of mine and what I have put it through, it isn't what I would call garbage. Mine served it's purpose with 100% reliability for me.

I don't know. Don has been around and seen some things, so he may have a good reason for the strong dislike. I would genuinely like to hear why he dislikes this mod so much, he may know something we don't know about them.
