Finally! Someone speaking some reality! So yeah, I'm using the VTC5s with no problem so far. I have confidence in these VTC5s and I know the cycles on two of them vary no more than 3 cycles and 1 of them is slightly less used. This "newer" one I placed as the third positive up battery, which from what I know, is the cell that will "do the most work." This is only for a couple days, mostly for my 3 hour drive to where I'm going for Xmas. When I get back home I'll have 3 brand new Samsung 30Qs from Orbtronic that I will conduct a wedding for in my RX200.

Now, for some RX200 TC speak... So the first atomizer I tried on it was my TM atty with a 24g 316L/36g KA1 dual fused Clapton build. It kept kicking out of TC and back into wattage mode. I have to say that I didn't really expect much from it since it the same atty+build has just started doing the same on my VT200. What I wanted to ask was why when this was happening, did the RX200 not allow me to change back to SS TC mode. When it kicked into wattage mode, I did the 3 clicks and it would go to Ni mode, but every time I tried clicking 3 times again it would just send me back into wattage mode. It did not continue to scroll past the Ni mode into Ti or SS. I tried different clicking speeds all the way from half-second pauses in between each click to as fast as I could do 3 clicks with my thumb like I was doing a Mortal Kombat 2 fatality on my SNES controller.

One more question about this thing: There is currently no way to flip the adjustment buttons to correspond with flipping the screen, correct?
Click the mods power off. Hold up and down button simultaneously and flip away.

If you do get a black one later, there are some pretty cool color combinations people are doing with the two. I bought two black ones from a B&M store ($55 each out the door) and I might return one unopened black one and swap for a white one, just for the color combo's.

That black and white one is gorgeous.

It is pretty sexy. It is just to bad you have to buy two of them to make it work. Not really crazy for the green and black combo.

How did you get the red in the screen?

The picture is from the RX200 facebook group. A member posted it there. He said he used cellophane to do it and another member said he uses head light tint from auto shops to do it. Poster stated he would post step by step pictures "around 7pm pacific time), which was 40 minutes ago.

I guess it would be pretty simple to do, just remove the front panel and put a piece of colored plastic over the screen and then reinstall the front cover.

For some reason I can not link directly to the facebook page, but if you search in facebook "Reuleaux by Jaybo and Wismec" that is the group and it is one of the top few posts currently. Group is "closed" so you will have to apply and be accepted whenever an admin comes around.

...I have also heard that that plastic ring also causes some batteries to not make or make poor connections. Whomever thought that one up...

JayBo was interviewed and takes credit for that idea. He goes on to say it's one of the things he's most proud of.

An industrial designer shouldn't have to be making battery safety decisions to begin with.

I'm disappointed in Evolv on this one.

They should have put reverse cell protection on the chip.

If Evolv's EScribe can change the duration of the fade-out time of the display, and allow Star Wars themed screen graphics, it should have basic battery safety features.

/off topic Evolv rant

Back to the RX200 (which does have reverse cell protection on the chip)...

Well it figures I have managed to insult almost everyone today. Actually I have looked at that Plastic Ring thing and can't imagine how it could possible work with all the different brands of batteries out there.

I didn't know until your post that it was not electronically protected against Reverse Battery like the DNA40 was.

I looked it up in the manual and here is what it says.

"DNA 200 is designed for battery packs that are permanently installed into the device, or battery packs that install using an insulated, polarized connector rated for at least 25 amps. If the battery pack is installed with the polarity reversed, the fuse will blow to protect the battery pack, board and user."

I have yet to see a fuse that is fast enough to protect circuit chips but what do I know. By the way the RX200 is supposed to have reverse bat protection built into the sled. I know the "dunkle" managed to reverse his and and got a warning on the RX200. He corrected his mistake and no blown fuse and the unit is working great.

Whitaker,

Boy am I embarrassed. I have been using the RX for about a month now and it performs so well I forgot it is not a DNA200.

Your talking about two different mods here. Tho. They built it for dna so had to do that to protect the board. But ran low on dna boards so put joytech chip in them and called it rx200. Least thats what understand on why they started putting joytech chips in. I could be wrong on that

Whitaker,

Thank you for getting me back on the road to OZ. I can't believe I completely forgot that the RX200 is not a DNA200. Ugh!

I don't think so because the box designs are different (slightly).

There is a video of Jay bo bringing the rx to a broader audience with similar properties of the DNA.

Hello Reuleaux

I'm guessing the reverse polarity connection of the DNA mod is that ring in the sled :)

That doesn't flip the up and down buttons though.

Exactly... I don't understand why most of these mods are made to be held in the left hand when the majority of the population is right-handed. I place my mod in my cupholder when I drive so I'm always holding it in my right hand anyway.

Storm Trooper mod!

Can't you achieve this with Jwraps? I got my black carbon fiber on the way...
