Hey all,

I just picked up the smok TFV8 Cloud Beast tank, and I’m running it on my Wismec Predator 228. The resistance of the coil (as printed on the side of the coil) reads 0.15 ohm, but my mod is reading it as 0.22 ohm. Is this a serious problem? I don’t want my mod blowing up in my face.

Also, side note, when using it the bottom of the mod starts to get pretty warm. Especially after 2-3 drags. Should this also be a concern?

The resistance change shouldn't be a problem, most mods will read coils at slightly different resistances... not only that, there are slight variances between coils, they are factory made but not completely identical.

How warm is the mod getting? Slightly warm or hot to the touch? What batteries are you using?

Anna

Hey Anna, thanks for the timely response!

I’m using 2x LG HG2 18650s, and they get pretty warm. I’m not burning myself by any means, but it’s definitely hotter than lukewarm for sure.

I don't have a Wismec Predator, so I can't say for certain, but that might concern me a bit. However, if you are vaping at extremely high wattages (sorry should have asked that) I could see the mod getting warm, but I'm wondering if your batteries are up to the task? (Depending on how old they are and what wattages you are running, that may be causing the warmth.) Or it could be something going on with your mod, too, if it's new, I might take it to a vape shop if you have one near you and perhaps if there's an employee with SOME knowledge they might be able to help you isolate it. Or you may need some different batteries that have higher capacity ratings than the LGs, but less runtime (that's what you sacrifice in these situations with high wattages....)

I think someone with more experience will be along shortly to assist you, but it's possible that your watts are too high for your batteries, checking out Mooch's blog may help you as well. Good luck,

I had the 228 before, had the same thing (0hms reading weirdly and device getting hot) though on my end it was the device/pcb and not the batteries, i had 2 Lg 18650s aswell. Like Anna said, having a slight difference is normal but imho that much of a difference is not.

If you're still under warranty at where you bought it i'd get it fixed, that's what i did and turns out mine was defective, i was spot on the last day of warranty too :p
