She's incredibly un-tech. Threw a fit when her hubs (my co-worker) bought her a iphone, threw a bigger fit when my son installed Wi-Fi at their home. She and I have been friends for like 20 yrs. I sold her my home. We are very close. We both quit analogs over the years too many times to count - and always went back to the stinkies. She wont have anything to do with vaping. Won't even take a hit off mine to taste it. We go to lunch twice a week. She sits on her side and smokes (doesn't bother me in the least) I on my side, vaping (doesn't seem to bother her in the least) Most I've gotten her to do is smell the juice when I'm refilling. She seems to like the smell. She's almost 60, I'm 55, so it's not like I'm from a more advanced technological era. I think she read or heard something about vaping and heard the word antifreeze in the same news cast and now thinks I'm vaping antifreeze. I tried to tell her that PG is in hundreds of household products. Told her vaping is at minimum 98% healthier then smoking. She coughs like the dickens from years of smoking. She said one of these days shes just going to quit altogether so she doesn't need to try e cig. Bless her heart if she is successful in that endeavor. I'm not pushing her, just gentle hints :) Maybe it's just i'm wanting to have a vape buddy - lol.

SORE SUBJECT for me at the moment. I know how COMPLETELY, UTTERLY, FREAKIN' FRUSTRATING and upsetting this is!

My brother started vaping, did well early on, and now finds (justifies) the need to smoke "10 or so" cigarettes a day in addition to his supplemental vaping. Can't even have an adult conversation about smoking vs vaping at all, even though I don't and will not "badger".

Similar situation with one of my best friends and his wife, heavy menthol smokers who say, "That stuff tastes like cough medicine. Look......You quit smoking and now you're addicted to THOSE. I'll just stick with THESE [the cigarettes]."

WOW!. I would just like to.........I want to just grab them and SHAKE them or something....UGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! For the LOVE of God!!!!!!!!....as he sits and screams at the top of his lungs, "What the HELL is WRONG with you people?????

So, YES, I think I know what you are going through......short of strangling family and friends to death or something........., I have no good answers at the moment, other than to know that at least they are aware that there is a very viable and pleasant alternative.

(Oh, and THANKS A LOT steelgirl....now you got me all hot, aggravated and angry all over again.....LOL...)

My young bride of 25 years must have seen the same antifreeze story. So far, she refuses to even try a vape, and gave me a bit of a hard time when I first started. I told her it just had to be better than smoking, but she refuses to even read a bit about it. Maybe she'll rethink it this winter when she's sitting out of the front porch freezing her south side off trying to get a smoke in and I'm inside enjoying a warm vape. I have a brand new Itaste 3.0 kit ready for her and plenty of different juices if she does change her mind. I have kept her informed of my progress so far (BP lowered, incessant coughing stopped, no longer using albuterol inhaler, off the Nasonex allergy spray and Allegra pills, sleeping thru the night, more energy) but it hasn't seemed to have soaked into her pretty little red head yet. I know I'm only a month in, but I feel for the first time that I can actually give up cigarettes.

It's hard to sit and watch. All you can do is lead by example. I've bought my daughter a whole set up for Christmas last year and she only uses it once in a while. :(

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Trite but true.

Maybe if they see you feeling better, doing more things..... Sorry that you're going through this. Bright side? You guys are doing GREAT! :)

The person that got me into vaping. I thought he had quit Marlboro reds. Turns out he has been buying packs and hiding it from everyone. Was wondering why I hardly ever see him vaping anymore. Kinda sad cause I quit cold turkey a couple months ago. I even tried to smoke a cigarette the other day. I took two little tiny baby puffs and about threw up from the taste. I am cured of ever wanting a cigarette again. Just makes me sad that he is going back to smoking.

Smoking cigarettes can have a very strong power over many individuals, not only physically but pychologically, too. The thought of being without their long term "friend" is not even fathomable. Cigarettes have been there for good times and bad times. Cigarettes are their security blanket. They wouldn't be caught dead without their cigarettes, (no pun intended).

"Cigarettes help calm my nerves when I'm under stress." "They are so satisfying. That first cigarette in the morning, after meals, after sex, and right before bed." "I've tried to quit before, nothing works for me."

Until there is a major life event, whether a loved one has died from cancer or COPD, a heart attack, etc, many smokers are not willing to realistically consider stop smoking.

I've found that until a person has really made up their mind that they need to quit smoking, no prodding or nagging will get them to seriously consider to quit. I remember I was the same way. I believed I would probably be smoking until the day I die.

It just so happened that the week my mother was diagnosed with what would turn out to be terminal cancer, I purchased an N-Joy disposable at a convenience store. It wasn't bad, and knowing that there likely were better e-cig options available I did research online and Google turned up ECF. The death of my mother got me more in touch with my own mortality and motivated me more to quit. My life was forever changed for the better. May God bless you, Mom. Thank you ECF.

I think we all have someone in our lives that we wish did not smoke analogs anymore because they really could benefit in terms of health by switching.
My first intro to vaping I was very skeptical... the market was so different back then and all my friends looked at me weird for vaping instead of just having a analog or just quitting all together. I eventually reverted back to analogs. but then some of my friends started vaping and the market for products and liquid was better and through all of their success they made me want to give it a try again and I'm happy, I feel great. But I'm still not 100% confortable vaping in public without someone else doing it first, so I too am always looking for a vape buddy.

I have a friend that I'm trying to help convert over to vaping because she is like me, never really addicted to nicotine, but rather the physical habit of smoking. Her concern is actually sticking with it and avoiding going back to analogs. You kind of just have to let them discover it on their, let them build their own curiosity in it. You have to let them want it, because then it will mean more to them then. I used to try and quit analogs all the time, but failed after extended periods of no analogs because I wasn't truly ready to quit, I just didn't want the harmful chemicals, but I wanted the physical act of it. None of my friends ever were dropping hints to me. None of them were like hey give this a try. it was all me. So vaping for me has been something I want and I feel good about sticking with it.

Try telling her about VG, I know for me I try to avoid PG as much as possible because of what you hear with it and it's uses. VG just sounds better in my head too lol. but all in all dont get preachy on her. But don't not care about her health. Hopefully she'll come around to something that is better for her health.

I've given away several starter kits where I give them batteries, a tank, charger, and take them to the local vape shop and let them pick out juice. Not a one of those people have actually switched, so all it did was waste my money. I won't do that anymore. Anyone who really wants to switch will find a way to finance it. (They are buying cigs, so they can afford to buy a battery and some juice.) If someone convinces me that they really want to do it and they cant' afford to start, maybe I'll loan them some stuff and tell them "But if you are smoking a month from now, I want it all back. I don't want it to go to waste." And they'll have to buy their own juice. I'm vaping with 0 nic, so it won't help them to use some of my juice to get started.

I have several friends who switched to vaping after seeing the success I've had with it, but those who actually switched all did it on their own, with no direct prompting or financial support from me.

So at this point, I think the best you can do for your friends is to let them know how happy you are to have switched to vaping, and then leave them alone. For it to work, they have to want it to work.

My young bride of 25 years must have seen the same antifreeze story.

Antifreeze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maybe that link will help. PG is certainly used in some antifreeze. They use it specifically because it's non toxic. There are other things that do a better job as antifreeze, but those things are toxic. PG is used when they want something safe. That isn't a bad thing, once you know the whole story, but usually they are only given half the story. It's usually the half where "they use that stuff for antifreeze".

Hey, if the freedom to vape in your own living room, perhaps at work, and in your car with your windows up doesn't convince a person to quit. Then maybe depriving those dirty, rotten, good for nothing, blood sucking, evil doing, ruthless, self delusional and narcissistic politicins:evil: of your :2c: will do it.

The Boston tea/:smokie: party!...Yup, that's what I'm talking about:vapor:
