And also imagine all the tar that is finally breaking free.. a lot of people get sick (some as bad as flu-like symptoms) after they quit smoking. Don't automatically assume it's the vaping -- could be ! But doesn't need to be!

If you're having a reaction to the toxins leaving your body, or you are sick and your throat is aggravated, vaping a soothing menthol would be ideal. Honey was one I found nice too.

PS if you're really new to vaping, try taking slower, longer inhales, and holding it in your mouth for a few. Inhale air slowly. It's very different from smoking a cigarette.

EDIT: oh and also, I am wheezing right now as I vape -- but it's environmental -- caught an icky throat bug.

Never had weezing problems. It could be that all the crap that has built up is finally breaking free or it could be an allergy to PG. I had itchy, dry skin when I first started vaping and someone suggested to me that it was the PG. I ordered VG only juices then gradually added the PG back in. Now I can vape any ratio thrown in my direction.

Edit: I went through a coughing spell on the 4th day that lasted about 2 days. I was coughing up nasty goo balls out of my lungs but still no wheezing.

There is a very wide range of materials that can be used in e-liquid. Some people will be intolerant to some of them. It means that if you have a problem then you need to get hold of a wide variety of alternatives, and change to one of the new ones for about four days to see what happens.

There are different types of VG, so you need to obtain samples from several different suppliers, if there is any VG in the liquid - and especially if you are using all-VG. This problem does not seem to affect PG.

There are numerous types of flavorings and some can be problematic for some people. The obvious thing to do if you have a problem is to obtain samples of the simplest possible liquid with the least flavor in it.

It takes about four days to fully judge the effects of a new brand, but about a week to get rid of wheezing caused by a brand that you were incompatible with.
