Definitely Japanese cotton.

100% cotton kitchen twine. Six strands pulled through a 1/16" coil with a wire bead needle, giving me 12 strands net.

I can only pull 3 (6 total) through my 1/16" coil. That must mean that my wick is bigger than yours.
