The cotton taste is strong and persistent and requires repeated boiling to remove. Organic cotton doesn't need boiling but the cotton taste is still strong. Wicking wise it performs equally to regular cotton. Labo cotton tends to have very little cotton taste infrequently which is gone quickly. Wicking wise it outperforms regular or organic for amount of juice transferred and for life. Koh Gen Do has never had a cotton taste in my experience and outperforms the others in transfer rate and longevity.

japanese pads are just easier and faster to use than cotton balls.

I think I paid $12 on amazon for labo pads and I cant imagine running out anytime soon.

so, why not?

Agree. Even if the taste and wicking were the same, I'd still buy the pads. These and a nice set of banzai tree scissors are invaluable to me for time and consistency. I get the same wick thickness, shape, and length every time, it's a no brainer.

Used them all, imo no real difference(... and organic). Regular cotton balls have a nasty taste that takes too long to dissipate. ... cotton only lasts me a day and half before I have to rewick. I have been using organic cotton balls and will continue too. Cheap, easy, and don't have to wait on Mr. post person to bring me more

Interesting how people's experiences can differ so greatly. I've used raw organic cotton, organic cotton balls, and Koh Gen Do. And honestly I don't see a damn bit of difference between the three wicking wise. If I had to choose one over the other it would be difficult.

I like how dry the ... cotton gets before you get dry hits which allows better drip sampling when you are trying new flavors. Less flavor contamination between different juices. CVS cotton is great, but I love the weave on the ... cotton and the automatic consistency every time due to the density of the weave.

Hi everyone, why is everybody against regular cotton, it's not bleached with clorox, just with Hydrogen Peroxide - A super-charged water with an extra atom of Oxygen: H2O2 .... Correct me if I am wrong
I've seen multiple threads with people mentioning H2O2 in cotton, I might be new to vaping, but I know chemistry. You have nothing to worry about. When it is heated or exposed to light for a while(hence it being sold in brown bottles) it just releases oxygen and decomposes into water.

Honestly, because it caught on. Its as simple as that.

Guys grossly exaggerated how amazingly fantastical super duper amazing uber mega better the flavor was, threw in a few words like organic, then a few negative words about the normal stuff like pesticide and chemical then the giant circle jerk of people convincing each other its the greatest thing since sliced bread got rolling...

...perception...

...placebo effect....

...take your pick.

At this point in time, there's absolutely nothing proving one type of wick safer or healthier than any other. Anyone proclaiming one is safer than the other is talking out their rear. (damned word filters)

Some of ya'll should watch the Phil B video linked earlier.
1 verdict is absolutely clear: the regular cotton balls (CVS etc) doesn't wick for diddly.
The rayon wicked the best, followed by organic cotton a close 2nd.
I use the OJC because mentally, it's not 'rayon' ha.
And as mentioned, it is the easiest to make a consistent wick - cut the strip size for your coil size, not pull off a wad of 'rayon' (ha) and guess.

Use what you like best. Cotton is cotton, some of it comes differently prepared than others. ALL of it is cotton.....
Bet you already have cotton balls in the house. Grab a handful from the bag, boil then 2-3 water changes, let dry, give it a try for a few days. It will take a few very bad wicks to learn how to use ANY material. While you are trying the cotton balls, you can order some of the fancy pad things, try those next. Stop at a beauty shop or supply store get some rayon. Don't know what kind of atty you are using. But might as well order some silica, some mesh and maybe even cable or ceramic wicking material. There are many ways to wick a atomizer, and just as many that will swear their way is the BEST way EVER.
