that is 1 of those odd things.. i think in the beginning the name was slapped on for marketing.. its usually used as a sweetener (em or Ethyl Maltol ). try adding a bit of fruit with it.I hardly can taste the cotton candy at all in the juice I mixed last week. I am wondering if you have made a successful cotton candy juice either plain or with fruit flavors? What did you use and how much? Thanks !

EM indeed is used as generic "sweet" and also as cotton candy. I think it's one of those flavors that "flips over" to something different at a certain level. What % did you use?
I, for instance, use some AP (Acetyl Pyrazene) and at low percentages, it adds a little "nutty" to a mix. But go just a little too high, and BAM, it's suddenly "FRITOS CORN CHIPS". Unmistakable...fritos. LOL.
Flavors are totally unique to individual taste buds - you can up the mix, or maybe LOWER the mix, in order to hit what you hoped for. Common DIY error in fact, is going to high with a percentage - people would put 15 or 20% of something in and not taste it. Then they'd try it at 8%, and the flavor would return... Weird.
Good luck!
If you put a small dab on your finger,it does indeed taste exactly like cotton candy, although i have not ever tasted a finished juice that tasted like it,it is definitely an odd one haha.that is 1 of those odd things.. i think in the beginning the name was slapped on for marketing.. its usually used as a sweetener (em or Ethyl Maltol ). try adding a bit of fruit with it.
Cotton candy is more of an additive than a flavor.
From from the blog by @Hoosier :
EM = Ethyl Maltol. You may as well tie one hand behind your back if you do not have some of this in your stash of stuff. (Two flavoring companies that I know of also sell this in a 10% solution as Cotton Candy Flavoring.) I use EM in a 10% solution and here is what it does:
Note that some folks are sensitive to the effects of EM and can taste sweetness at 0.05%, but this is fairly rare, and some folks are resistant to the effect and will never get anything sweet out of EM, but it will still add a depth to their juice that is feel more than taste. I don't care if you buy Maltol crystals and make your own solution or if you buy a 10% solution of ethyl maltol premade, like I do, just get it and experiment with it.
- Tiny Bit (A fraction of 1% in your mix) - Gives a "body" to the vapor and may slightly reduce sharp notes.
- A Bit (Close to 1% +/- in your mix) - As above but will take the edge off sharp notes and may very slightly sweeten.
- A Bunch (1%-5% of your total mix) - As above plus sweeten
- A Load (10%+ of your total mix) - Cotton Candy flavor
As a matter of course, I add 1% cotton candy to all my mixes now and it is indeed a "magic bullet".
I enjoy Blueberry Cotton Candy from Flavor West at 10%. Tastes great to me.
Yes and No. The taste is different to different folks. Some folks say if you use too much, it will mute the flavor of your mix.So if I just used 10% of the ethyl Maltol alone, it will taste like cotton candy?
Could try TFA Circus Cotton Candy to see how that tastes.Sounds delicious!
