Hey guys (long time no see:),

When I first started vaping, I started with Blu, it was the kit that came with the charging pack, 2 batteries and you could also put a couple of filled cartridges in them as well and go (I'm sure most here know what I'm referring to). Of course as technology advanced, so I did I and quickly moved on that same year to ego's and the list goes on and on and on.

Anyways I went to Blu's site tonight because I wanted to pickup a kit for when I'm out and about running errands, I miss having the cigalike experience (really I liked it and it got me off cigarettes and I also loved the blue light that lit up when you took a drag) so I wanted to pick a kit up and use it for that purpose only. I discover that they no longer make these cigalikes anymore (except for the blue+ I believe it's called) but it doesn't come in a kit, no charging pack, etc...not for me! I'm surprised they would ditch the very product that put them on the map (at least back in that time)!

I wanted to know if these old school kits still exist and if so, with whom do they exist with? I really want to pick one up but I also want to be able to purchase cartridges/tanks with them as well (would prefer to be able to refill them until they finally die like I did with Blu), I don't want to buy something that is not in production anymore and have no way to replace liquid, etc.

Do you guys have any suggestions or is this line of vaping dead now? I'm not interested in pod systems, I really want that 510, cigalike look for when I want it.

Thanks!

P.S. After a quick look online (maybe I got lucky?), I'm thinking Halo (G6) would be my best choice. What do you guys think? Of course there is no charging pack included but everything else is there.

You can consider Smokeless Image Volt cigalikes. Rechargeable. The tips are available both prefilled or refillable blanks. Own line of e-liquids should you prefer. Battery and tips are 808 threaded. These are the starter setup I quit smoking with.

You can still get cig-alike things - every grocery store, carry out, and gas station sells them. Not sure if they have a blue light.

But from what I’ve seen, they’re going about $40-50. I think that’s expensive for what they are.

And basically, they are a pod, but I hear you that they usually don’t look very cigarette like.

I have one of these which performs much the same, no blue light though, and you have to push a button. But it’s lightweight and sturdy.

SXMini Mi Class 12W Portable Device – VaporDNA

The pods don’t come filled, but they’re very easy to fill.

I'm still using the Blu Plus myself, so can't give you much about the other brands. If you still have/want to use your original Blu kit, the plus parts will work with it. The tanks are better than the old carts, and the newer batteries last a bit longer than the originals. The tanks aren't really refillable, but if you really want some of the flavors unique to Blu, they are still an option.

I don't know what is happening with Blu lately, they do seem to be abandoning the original product in favor of the pods. The cigalikes aren't the world's best vape, but durnit, they are pretty good at being what they are. I still can't drive without that little round thing in my hand, and they are much easier to carry around than my "good" mods.

I started with a G6. I think it would meet your criteria quite well. If you get the kit, I recommend you get some of the minitanks as well, unless you're fond of cartomizers.

Actually, I have four G6 automatic batteries, two wall chargers, and a bunch of cartomizers and minitanks--Halo's and some larger Kanger guys that fit on the G6--that I no longer use. The batteries are past their prime, but they still take a charge (though, if I recall correctly, a couple won't work on one charger but do on the other). The carts came prefilled, so you'd be getting some Tribeca and something else; I don't remember what (Prime15? Torque? Who knows?). PM me if you want them. I'd be glad if someone could use them in their golden years.

I’m afraid all I’ve got is a bit of history:
Cigalikes are the smallest and least powerful of the system form factors. For a time a few years ago the original eroll was kind of the king of that form factor because it had an ego “c” cartridge and it was 3.7v. Most of the rest were 2.2v. It got around the power problem all cigalikes have by having a powerful but very very small battery and including a charging case with a much larger battery in it.

The problem was the maker came out with a new model but it was never imported to the US. Now a third model is coming out (the eroll MAC) which apparently IS going to be imported, and there are high hopes, but no one has actually tried one yet so it’s hard to know if it will actually be any good.

The eRoll MAC looks like a nice cigarette shaped automatic device, solving many of the issues with older cigalikes. With a 510 connection it isn't proprietary and can even use the older carto technology. Moving charging away from the threaded connector should reduce wear, as will top filling. The quick charging PCC looks good and pricing I've seen isn't bad.

If we hadn't adopted the Innokin Minifit as our new tiny handy device, these would have likely been given a chance. I might have dug out the packs of cartos I have to try on them too!

I just sold myself on these and might have to get one!

They’re 510? Interesting. I didn’t know that. Removes the unknown of are their “toppers” pods or cartridge holders and if they’re any good.
The remaining unknowns then are battery power, pcc power, and automatic switch reliability. The old eroll was pretty good about those. The cig batteries themselves were extremely small, but charged reasonably quickly in the pcc and had good power.

Yea, I sent Blu an E-Mail questioning why they did this and never got a response, that's one thing I always hated about them is they seemed very shady when it came to customer service. I know a lot of people hate on Blu, now a days I can understand why but back in the early days of vaping, they were extremely popular and that was my first ever ecig/kit and that's what got me into vaping, I really liked their kits and I thought their "charging pack" that looked like a pack of cigarettes, that you could keep everything in/charging was brilliant!

I believe Volcano ecigs also had a kit of the same liking (in fact I think I had bought one a few months later after I first picked up the Blu kit), however Volcano has really changed their lineup, they seem to be more into selling other companies products now than their own lineup...maybe that's what was killing them is the fact that their own line was just not working for them anymore, who knows!

No, I don't have any of my cigalike kits anymore, I sold them when I moved up to the ego kits within my first year of vaping. I wish I had held onto my Blu kit but oh well.

BTW, since it's been so long since I've used cartos, I can't remember what juice ratio I would want to use with them. Is 50/50 best, I can't remember what I used anymore back then when I would refill my Blu cartos. Halo says to use their "standard" ejuice lineup, but they don't say what the pg/vg ratio is.

I think if I'm going to do this, I'm just going to go with Halo, they really let you customize what you want and I like that. I checked out Volts site and it seems really plain and boring to me, with no choices when it comes to colors, etc, I definitely want the cigalike, not interested in anything larger than that. I know it's kinda going back in time, but when I'm out and about, I always liked using them and I'd just like to have that option again for when I want them. It's not like I'm going to be using them on a daily basis.

For some time (years) there's been a general theme that moving "up" to bigger batteries, tanks and power was the only good way to vape. No doubt aggressive marketing made this very profitable and fed our typical American urge for "more". As MTL vaping has returned with new devices, that thinking has been shown to be misguided.

Any way one vapes to keep off smokes is the best way to vape. Different strokes for different folks!

If you order the Blu Plus express kit, you will get a battery and the little USB charger that screws onto the battery. I think the tanks have to be purchased separately now. I think they may have stopped selling the little cases because the notch that holds it closed tends to break off. The one advantage to Blu is the 510 connection and tanks that you can still get at some stores if you run low. If you check out the sale section, they have some decent deals on discontinued tanks.

Their service is better than it used to be. Almost everything is free shipping now, so you don't have to make those big orders like you used to. When I was refilling the carts, I used a 50/50 juice. I think you will want to go higher PG if you want to go that route. I think the high VG juices will be too thick for the cigalikes. I also think the grumblings from the ANTZ are starting to spook some of these companies into cutting back on things. It still seems silly to me for them to be culling the original stuff in favor of the pods. Maybe that will be easier for them if they have to leave the US altogether due to the storm clouds brewing.

Back in the day blu had an advantage in that they were one of the very few gas station brands that used a standard 510 connector. This meant you weren’t locked into a full proprietary ecosystem where you could be abused. These days the 510 is everywhere though and blu is just another gas station ecig.

i like the joecig xtc but it looks like a lot of places are discontinuing it :(
a lot of people are happy with some of the newer automatic pod types.
i think the eroll mac(9.2mmx100mm) was released this week so there should be some reviews on its performance coming out soon.
the njoy loop is kinda similar to the e-roll but i think it only has pre-filled pods.

I was just thinking about this today actually, I wish had stayed with traditional vaping and had never tried sub-ohm vaping. Although I like it, I feel like after doing it for a few years now, that I'm just inhaling too much vapor and it could be causing me problems (breathing wise). When I wake up in the mornings, sometimes I feel short of breath but that might not be from vaping, I'm suspecting I might have sleep apnea due to my weight. I still wish I had left well enough alone and just stuck with my ProVari setups using Nautilus Mini, Kanger Aerotank Mega, etc., and the worst part is that I sold all that stuff, which I could kick myself in the ... for doing!

I'm kinda thinking I should return to more MTL setups and get away from sub-ohm vapes, although I'm going to miss the big, airy draws from them.
