I was looking for a Vamo on fleabay and see some auctions that say "Authentic VAMO V6 KSD Variable Wattage All 3 Finishes 20W Vaporizer mod" or you might see KVP in there. I saw one auction that had them both listed on the same time: "US KVP/KSD Vamo V6 Vaporizer Variable Voltage And Wattage APV Top Quality!".

Are these ebay auctions clones of a real Vamo or would you say they are legit? Or is this one of those YMMV cases? (You can search the bold print via fleabay to see the auctions)

Thanks

KSD is Kangside I believe, the company that produces VAMO apv's. If you are worried about authenticity, shop at a real vendor imo. Cactusesmokes has a great deal on VAMO v3 and v5's, just 15$ right now. I'd buy there before ebay any day of the week, as they are also a registered forum supplier here.

Hi Deeeebs and welcome to ECF!

Go to the official Vamo website: Vamo V5 - The Official Home of the Vamo V5 - you won't find the initials KVP or KSD anywhere on there, so I'm not sure what the seller is referring to with those initials.

I'd also be suspicious of getting any vaping gear from eBay. First of all, eBay has a no-vaping products policy, so you might be stuck paying for something only to have eBay pull the sale. We've also heard some stories regarding the legitimacy of some vape vendors on both eBay and Amazon.

Just thought you should know.

So I see most of you are linking to the V5. Are the V6-V9 not legit? I was looking for a V6 or V7. A quick google search later and I find the FastTech website and they seem to sell V2-V9, Mukey Mod, Fire, 25, 35, and 50 mod Vamos. Is fasttech a legit source for something like this?

EDIT: So I see anything over the V5 model does not have VV capabilities. If I am seeing things correctly.

Why would one choose a newer V6-V10 VW mod over the V2-V5 VV/VW mods?

It looks like a shill site for pier420 dot com selling Vamo's for $36. That I can figure out, they have no claim at all to call themselves the original, genuine or official anything.

That I know, a company called Rainbow Heaven made the first Vamo which was quickly cloned and copied by many different manufacturers (including KSD, KYX, Lifeking, even Vision have one knocking about somewhere)

Buying a Vamo, you are going to have to roll the dice a little bit - there are still many different companies manufacturing them and selling them under different names. I think Vamo has come to almost mean a specific style of APV rather than a particular brand or company.

If I was buying one today I would buy it from Fasttech. You can review all the different products there, check their discussion forums etc. and you know you will be buying it at rock bottom price. Just a tip if you do decide to buy it there, pay the extra $1.80 (or whatever it is today) for the expedited shipping and you'll get it in 7-14 days assuming it's in stock.

Now, if you can find a local B&M in H-town that sells a Vamo for a reasonable price and offers a warranty with it, that might be an even better bet.

Thanks for the reply. What do you think about the link above that Fattlestar posted from Cactusesmokes? The V5 from there comes out to about $20.50 shipped to my door.

Also can you shed some light on why someone would get a newer V6 or V7 NON VV mod over the V5 that is VW/VV? I mean I can see they go to higher wattage but thats all. I am guessing in the V6 and V7 that the circuit board automatically changes the Voltage based on the OHM coil and Wattage being used??....

That looks a good deal on the link - and they are a registered supplier here so I would say you can buy with confidence - although I have never heard of, or used that particular vendor before.

As for the V6 not being variable voltage, it really doesn't matter that much as they are variable wattage only - so you are right that they change the voltage based on the wattage and resistance. So they just have a different board in there than the earlier versions. I can't say which is better or worse as I've not used any other than a V2 and a V3.

It's kind of hard to keep up with all the different versions of the Vamo. What one company calls a V6, another company calls a V4... all so confusing.

One thing that does seem pretty consistent between the manufacturers is the coating wears off pretty fast. So if you are getting one, I would recommend getting a stainless one rather than a coated tube. I think the V5 linked above is a SS version.

I agree, get the V5 in stainless, all the other Vamo types lose their coating very quickly, in particular the gunmetal.

Variable wattage is generally more desirable than variable voltage now, although most variable wattage devices do allow for voltage. I haven't really looked at the higher version VAMO's really, there are so many better options today that they aren't very popular anymore. That said, I do own a VAMO clone and it works fine (stainless) :)

Hmm then people should be giving them away free huh? :) j/k

The only other thing I see is that on the V6 and the V7 you can use them as a "power bank" if you needed to charge your phone.

Maybe some one that has a V5 and a V6 or V7 can chime in with the differences/features from a user stand point rather then from what the company says.

Strangely, older vape gear seems to keep pricing over longer periods of time, even though it doesn't make sense functionally. For example, the Itaste 134's are terribly underpowered and physically very big and have less features than a 30 watt mod, but still tend to cost $80 dollars or more (when you can get a more powerful and feature-filled mod for half that). So if you're buying older models, you're paying for the form factor more than the functionality.

Like InTheShade said, your best bet is the discussions on each particular model on Fasttech. You'll get a better concentration of actual owners commentary there, and usually the flaws in each model are well detailed.

As others have said: "Vamo" has come to mean something that looks and performs like a vamo. One thing is for sure: V8 and V9 are definitely not authentic.

Hard to know how to go about finding an authentic - probably not ebay.

My V5 was cheap on ebay. It seems to be unusual in having an adjustable 510 connection which, er, self adjusts. Until I sorted it it was a bit of a PITA. But then, vamos with a spring pin are also renowned for having the issue with the pin not springing properly.

It is what it is. If you want a vamo then a vamo fits the bill. I like mine and would need to be much wealthier than I am to prefer one provari over 10 vamos.

Better in what ways? What would you recommend that is better for around the same price?

Double your budget and consider something like this:

Sigelei Mini 30W - Black Box Mod

As a former Vamo owner, I encourage you to consider alternatives. Performance, durability and build quality is just not there.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been looking at the box mods also, but those 100W mods are pretty pricey. What others would you recommend? IPV3 is too much for now especially if you add on batteries and charger and a Kanger sub tank. I have some 18650's and a charger that I got free with some old PuffKing stuff but am pretty sure they are not high drain 1860's, and not sure if i would trust the charger. A 50W mod seems nice but seeing as how some atomizers are already capable of pushing past what the 30W mods can do I do not want to be limited by an under powered device shortly down the road.

Nowhere does it say they are the manufacturer on this site, its a sales pitch - the only source for an authentic vamo lol

When you click buy now it took me to this site

https://www.pier420.com/

A store for " other" types of vaporizors.
Lol

The vamo was released as a chip set and design parameter. Anyone can build it - I believe ksd had the initial IP called the ego vw mod, later named the bamboo, then changed to vamo,

I still own the original brass bamboo lol
