@evan le'garde - I quit smoking because I really wanted to quit smoking. I was sick and tired of two bad cases of bronchitis every year, wheezing, coughing, and just plain stinking. My first cig-alike did the trick for me. I pretty quickly moved on to ego cartos and batteries and used for those at least two years before I got into sub-ohm mods and tanks. I was NEVER a dual user (not that there is anything wrong with that if that is what it takes.) Now I mix juice, roll coils, and enjoy it as a hobby. Many here have turned it into a hobby while using it to quit smoking cigarettes. You are, IMO, making some pretty broad assumptions when you actually know very little about the people here. I loved smoking which is why I smoked for years and years and years yet I wouldn't go back to it for anything. vaping has completely replaced the need to smoke for me. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

I started using joyetech 510's in 2010 because I was smoking and wheezing allot using cigarettes. Used that for a bit but it wasn't satisfying so I kept on smoking while using it inside a bit.

After a while I decided to try an Ego type ecig. They were better but still not good or satisfying enough for me to switch to ecigs completely (this would have been in 2011 so the tech wasn't quite there and pretty bad tbh)

I then decided to invest myself in the hobby a bit more.
Bought all I needed to make my own liquids, a provari V2 and cartomizers and tanks.

I got pretty big into vaping and would constantly buy new parts to try out to get the best and most satisfying vape I could out of it. When I got to a point where I was a happy vaper and satisfied with my setup the ''need'' to have an analog went away. Still, i always strived to better my experience.

I will be honest, my objective at first wasn't to stop smoking or vaping completely. It was as an alternative.
I decided that since I was making my own juices I would gradually cut down on the nicotine since it would be only logical to ingest less of the drug.

Gradually, with time I went from 36 mg, 24 mg, and so on until one day, after several months of beings at 2-4 mg I decided to mix juices without any nicotine at all.

After only maybe 2 weeks of vaping no nic liquid I started noticing I was reaching for my provari less and less without even thinking about it.

One day I noticed I had not touched my mod for the last 2 days. At that point I took the decision to just put it away in a box and not use it anymore. To my surprise I didn't have any trouble doing it at all.

I went a whole 3 years without touching an ecig or a cigarette.

I ended up smoking again after smoking a few analogs while drinking with some buddies.
Stressful situations, anxiety and easy access to cigs (living with someone who smokes) made me grab one every once in a while.

Faster than I could even notice, I was hooked again.
Now 2 months later I am trying to go back to vaping as an alternative.
Eventually I want to try the same method to quit.

Every person's experience with vaping is different. I think you might be right for some, but I don,t think everyone is exactly the same.

I think that vaping is something someone might do as an alternative to smoking if they never really wanted to give up smoking. Whereas patches, gum etc are used to help people quit completely. So taking up vaping as an alternative to smoking and then later on quitting vaping could only result in one outcome.

I believe that if someone starts vaping to avoid smoking, then quitting vaping at some point, or having a long term plan to quit vaping will ultimately lead to one outcome.

Again, a vapist/vaper is someone who had no intention of quitting smoking. If they did then they wouldn't vape. Sounds illogical but in a real world scenario, seeing as Tobacco is as addictive as the air we breath, it's always going to be one or the other. So quitting vaping shouldn't be an option. Just continue to hit it real hard with a long term plan to never give it up. Realising that giving up Tobacco is impossible, given peer pressure, social aspects in which one feels the need to fit in etc, then vaping really is the only answer, "quitting" vaping isn't.

Your statement as it stands there is a steaming pile of...something not too pleasant.
Considering that it's not mainly nicotine, that keeps you addicted to cigs, but for the most part those nasty little additives that are nowhere mentioned on the boxes, vaping is the exact same as any other way to quit smoking.
Some of my friends are living proof.
So why am I still vaping?
Because it has turned into a hobby for me. Plain and simple. I like the technical aspects, the fiddling with new gear and the sweety goodness of a new juice. It even has diminished my craving for sweets to nearly zero. So not only my lungs are thankful for the change, but my belly is as well. It's longer the need of a drug that drives me further into vaping.
I wake up without the need to get my first nicotine hit as soon as possible, and I don't get grumpy, if I don't get my usual dose of happyness, unlike the times when I was still smoking. Now I vape when I'm in the mood and not when my addiction dictates it.

People come to vaping forums looking for answers. The new members forum is testament to that. After a few days, weeks or months they forget why they came and appear to have become freelance agents for the vaping industry.

I'm not "Whining"!!!!!

If vaping "is" so very subjective how could anyone even possibly consider recommending anything to anyone ?.

No matter what someone might be using to vape with, no matter what make or model, it will be used as a recommendation, and there are hundreds to choose from.

If a complete stranger asks for a solution then a recommendation is usually given for a random device. They've never met each other and have no idea at all what could possibly work, yet a recommendation is given anyway.

Taking a large step back is how i am able to see this happening.

It's not an opinion !.

Just as everything else i've mentioned, this is an "observation". My observations may not be exact. But i do my best.

So i am sorry if my interpretations of what i've observed aren't accurate.

It does seem apparent to me that my posts are being misunderstood as opinions. I do try to reach conclusions based on my observations. And sometimes i'm wrong. The results of my observations aren't convictions.

It is an opinion. Your opinion. Nothing else.
And the reason is, that your dilettantish put together theory is devoid of any real proof and is far away from any scientific or even objective methods. You base it solely on your observation of a tiny little part of the people that stop smoking through vaping. Why should anyone who doesn't care for vaping more than to quit smoking, squander his precious time in a forum like this? He asks a friend, walks into the next vapeshop or whatever, vapes a while, makes his slow deprivation from nicotine and quits vaping.
There are far more people out there, that contradict your theory.

All vaping forums rely on advertisements.

That's not an opinion, it's clearly an observation. It's not a pretentious attempt to look intellectual.

It isn't a complaint either.

Vaping forums encourage members to spread the word about the latest thing. It's because they are commercial. I'm not saying this because i think you don't know already.

None of this is an opinion. Just seems to me that most people, by default, ignore the most apparent things. There's nothing wrong with that. And there's nothing wrong with pointing those obvious things out either.

There is nothing wrong with being dilettantish. Unless you personally don't like it.

Vaping forums aren't places where people go to talk about their smoking related problems. There aren't any vaping forums that exist that do that. They don't "diagnose" then prescribe a solution. They exist to sell people stuff. And there is nothing wrong with that either.

Disecting my posts into their component parts and deciding i'm superficial doesn't address any vaping related issues that i've been focusing my posts on. It's just an attemp at character assassination.

Are we going to talk about vaping or shall we continue with assassinating my character ?.

Nobody has to assassinate you.
You walk to the butcher's block all on your own.

Sure. Ads are everywhere. And Vapecompanies want to sell their stuff to idiots like us.
But that's not the point.
You relate vaping to smoking in a way, that's simply not correct.
It's the same as saying "smokers that start playing football instead of smoking and hang around in football forums are not quitting the right way or change one addiction for another".

For me it's what can provide a sufficient throat hit at a low temperature. So without having to turn up the heat just to create some kind of harsh sensation, which could be considered a throat hit, i need an atomizer which "actually works". Seems to me there are literally hundreds of atomizers on the market which produce vapour, but that's practically all they do !. None of these manufacturers look into the science at all. They'll just copy whatever existing devices are out there already and consumers flock to buy the "latest thing" even though it's just another piece of plagiarized crap.

So what does the op require ?.

An atomizer which can satisfy by providing a throat hit at low temperatures, around 10 - 12 watts ?.

Or an atomizer which can provide a harsh sensation which most consider a genuine throat hit, but only at high temperatures ?. If this is the case then absolutely anything will do.

Personally i don't consider the sensation produced at high temperatures a "throat hit". It's just rough !. Seems most people are easily satisfied.

An atomizer which can produce a throat hit at low temperatures is very hard to find. Pretty much every atomizer i see in all the b+m's and online is a standard vapour maker and those who buy these devices aren't looking for any kind of satisfaction. They just want something which gives them enough nicotine that will enable them to cut down on their smoking habit.

It's virtually impossible to convince anyone what it is exactly that they need. It's because, really, they don't "need" anything, so anything will do, just as long as it produces nicotine vapour. Then they just turn up the heat until they get a harsh vape, and they''ll call that a throat hit !.

MTL Satisfaction can be achieved at low temperatures, with a sufficient amount of nicotine, and with a specific device/atomizer.

But there's no real point in mentioning this device because no one is really interested. And in addition to that all i ever hear is how over engineered it is blah blah blah !.

It's fun being a people watcher though. When people talk to me in this way my only conclusion is they most probably still smoke, are complacent with the devices they use at high temperatures, of which they possess dozens, even hundreds (That should give them some inkling that they simply have no idea what they are doing, but no !) and continue to say "everyone is different and vaping is subjective". They do all have one or two things in common though. They all continue to say this, they all continue to smoke, and they all continually buy more and more crap being produced by the industry, even though it doesn't even simulate the sensations smoking provides.

So you see when i see people talking about they've just bought this and that and have dozens of atomizers etc, talk about a list of random atomizers that they've got, it's this information which tells me instantly that these people do still smoke, as regularly as they ever did, just not for as many hours per day.

If you did find an atomizer that actually simulates the sensation of smoking you wouldn't be continually buying more and more atomizers.

I'd say of the thousands of ECF members only a small % actually completely quit smoking via vaping. Probably a perfect example of the % of vapers worldwide who still smoke.

I just wish there was a way of seperating those who vape + smoke, and those who quit smoking completely via vaping. I get a lot more sense from those who've quit !.

It's impossible to get any "real" information from smokers/vapers because they "constantly" talk a complete load of rubbish. After all it's not difficult to appear online and simply say "i don't smoke".

So when a question is asked such as "what is currently the best DTL RTA ?. You may as well be talking to a magic 8 ball.

If you are genuinely looking for an RTA which works, aren't bothered and misled with all the extraneous babble you know you're going to hear, and want to quit smoking forever (even though you say you already have), then the only RTA which "actually works" at low temperatures is the Kayfun V4.

And don't ever say no one ever told you !.

I know it has it's flaws, i know !. It works though !.

Running 29g kanthal, 5 wraps - 2mm, 1ohm, 11.5 watts 24mg nicotine.

There are those who still smoke who will disagree with this post. Then there are those who agree with this post who don't smoke. But then there are those who vape at high temperatures and call a harsh vape a throat hit, they will also disagree with is this post. So, most members will disagree, though having said this, probably won't respond at all, as if it were a game they're playing or something. But no matter the outcome i will definitely be made to look an idiot.

My vaping hardware doesn't lie you know !. You don't need high temperatures to get a throat hit. Just a V4.

I had second thoughts about pressing the "post reply" button on this post.

No harm no foul !.

I find you to be full of rubbish and ignorant to a lot of, well pretty much everything. It seems to me that by your opinion, if people are not vaping your way, then they are wrong, lying, or don't know anything about vaping. You remind me of the old folks who feel that their answer is gospel and everyone else is wrong. You don't need any help from the community to make you look out to be an idiot, you do a fantastic job of that yourself.

I vape because i loved to smoke, loved it, i'd smoke anything, i can't do that anymore. Smoking is seriously addictive, hideously addictive !. It is practically impossible to give up. Unlike most people i had absolutely no choice. Cronic heartburn isn't the same as regular "i'll just take a rennie" heartburn. I'm really ill !. Heartburn is just one of a number of symptoms i have. But if i don't smoke i don't suffer from it anymore.

If someone wants to stop smoking then vaping is probably their best bet. But only if it works. You know the market is flooded with cheap disposable hardware which simply doesn't work. What's a person to do when their "highly recommended" electronic alterative isn't effective enough ?.
