I'm still pretty new to all this but I'm noticing that some liquids give you a burnt aftertaste while others do not. Why is this? Is it the amount of nicotine in it?

I've been buying 18 mg nic, well I was a two packs a day smoker so felt I needed to start w higher nic. Does lower nicotine affect the burn/taste?

Or, is it the QUALITY of the nicotine that gives this burnt taste?

So you've got a burnt taste, aftertaste you say. But have you inspected your coils/wicking to make sure it's not actually something burning? I say this because, a gunked up coil getting near dry hits can start to burn more so than one that has been kept dry burned and frequently wicked depending on wick material and wattage applied to the coil.

If it truly is just aftertaste I wish I knew. I had a terrible sample from local B&M once, a coffee I believe. It had a distinct aftertaste like burnt popcorn. You may just be right :p

I use these iclear tanks, I bought an innokin Itaste. I don't know a lot yet about the ratios but when there is a choice I choose in the middle, 50 50. And I haven't bought any of the tobacco flavors, trying to stay away from that. I try to keep my tank pretty full so the wicks don't dry out. I thought maybe it's the high level of nicotine and if I go down in nic strength, it might not have a burnt taste. But idk enough about it yet. I'm not really complainingtho, a little burnt e juice is better than those nasty cigs any day of the week.

If it's not a dirty coil, and you have a nice clean one and it still tastes burnt, it's the juice. I bought , sadly, a large number of juices from Crave, thinking they are organic, natural, and must be good. Not so. They smell lovely in the bottle and horrible when vaped, most of them, especially the fruity ones. Must be something in the sweetener or simply flavoring that doesn't agree.....

I'm told that the burnt taste is all about the tank, at least in my case. I've got an Istick 50watt, but get burnt taste at 15 watts. Perhaps lower your voltage, if you have an adjustable battery mod. I'm new too, 3 weeks in. I'm constant vaping, so I've gone down to a 12 mg nic. I've gone down from pack and a half Marlboro red per day, and I'm finding that a 12 mg juice takes care of my nic crave nicely, with less rasp.

What kind of tank are you using Captain? If youre using A regular pro tank or nautilus you Really dont wnt to go above 15 else yourE going to get burnt hits and ruin your coil faster.

Also OP how long have you been using your tank? If its over a week youre most likely gettting the burmt taste from a burnt out coil. Also it would help if you let us no what iClear series youre using 16 or 30.

These are exactly the questions that need to be answered here by the OP. Gotta know the build, the juice, how old the coil is and how much power you're hitting it with...

Hmmm, so it seems split down the middle...is it the juice or is it the equipment? I only know in my situation some juices taste good when vapes and others, even if they taste good, may give a burnt taste in back of throat.

It can be contributed to the liquid mixture and also the wattage (or voltage) you are vaping at. Juices with high PG and/or high nic content will be very harsh to your throat (feels like your throat is burning) if you are vaping it at high wattage/voltage (how high will depend on your type of atty/clearo and coil ohm).

However, if you feel the liquid has burnt taste (or aftertaste), it could be due to over-wattage/voltage or that the wick is not delivering the juice fast enough possibly due to thick juice (high-VG) or clogged juice intake.

I don't want to start a new thread, I'll just ask here...what makes some liquids produce a big cloud of smoke?

Higher % of VG will increase the vapor (smoke). However, VG will carry less flavor and nic compared to PG. Therefore, you will need to find a balance that is suitable for you.

Having trouble here too with burnt taste. So dern frustrating its pitiful! :(
Used every new coil in the house, every ego stick, itstick that we had.
Don't know yet exactly what going on, I'm leaning towards bad juice perhaps??
The vanilla custard we were vaping was just fine, then all a sudden it went
dry tasting/burnt tasting. Pretty much unvapable!! Got the two toe monkey
back up juice! UGH!! This is truly awful!!

Using a istick 20, Kanger tank, 12 milg. 100% vg, vaping at 3.5 volts.

How long have you been using the coil head on your Kanger? It is possible that your coil or wick is clogged with gunk. Creamy and/or thick juices will kill pre-build coils faster.

I have an Itaste that goes to 11 watts, my sons Itaste goes to 20. His unit also produces burnt taste at times. I have about 5 of these iclear tanks now. So is there something I need to do to maintain them? Buy new wicks or coils? I don't even know what the coil really is, yet. I've been concentrating on buying liquids since I started vaping 5 weeks ago. We've had a few issues w the tanks, not working on one unit but then would work fine on the other one.
