    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome. Today I will be taking a look at a couple of new pod offerings from Voopoo that were sent to me in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The two I speak of are the latest upgraded versions in the Argus line of pods. There is the Argus P2 and the Argus G2. The Argus G2 has a 1000mah internal battery while the P2 has an internal 1100mah battery. Both have a maximum output of 30 watts. The P2 has a .54” display while the G2 has a .96” display. Both offer some upgraded features that I’ll cover in more detail later.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

Normally this is the part where I’d show the packaging but I was informed that the packaging for the samples is different from the retail packaging and was asked to not show it too much. What I will show is a picture of each with the package contents. The P2 comes with .4 and .7 ohm pod cartridges that have a 2ml capacity while the G2 comes with the same resistance pod cartridges but they are larger and have a 3ml capacity. Both pods are compatible with both devices.

Voopoo is calling the new cartridges the Argus Top Fill Cartridge. To me they aren’t really a true top fill. The fill port plug is still on the side but it is positioned higher so that you can actually fill the pods without removing them from the device. The resistance of each pod is stamped on the rubber fill plug. Voopoo claims that these new pods are good for 90ml of use but I would guess that it would depend some on the type of liquid used. I have been running a NET tobacco in one of mine which is notoriously blamed for wearing out coils so would doubt that I get 90ml through that one. One thing that’s really nice about these new pods is that they are compatible with the complete family of Argus products. These include ARGUS G, ARGUS P1, ARGUS P1s, ARGUS Z, ARGUS POD SE, and ARGUS POD.

The pods that are pre-installed on each device do have a clear seal covering the bottom to avoid accidental firing before filling. The pod has two strong magnets on the bottom that hold the pod securely in place. There are two holes opposite of each other so that the pod aligns with the airflow sensor despite which way it is inserted into the device.

The new Argus P2 features an OLED screen with 5 RGB LED lights. I had some difficulty taking a picture of the display. For some reason it looks in the picture like there is a line through the display but there actually isn’t. It just showed up like that on all of the pictures that I tried to take. The display shows the battery level, puffs, wattage and cartridge resistance. The P2 operation is as follows.

    • Press the fire button 5X to turn on the device
    • Press the fire button 3X to change the wattage
    • Once on, press the fire button 5X to enter the menu where you can choose between Puff Clear, Shift Mode(SPT, NOR, ECO), Power Mode, Off, or Exit
    • Press and hold the fire button and it will demonstrate three different display modes. Release the button and select the lighting and display screen mode

One side of the P2 has the Argus name in large gold lettering while the other side is just black with the Voopoo name on the main body. It’s nice that part of the body is clear and you can see the circuit board. The gold button on the top is the fire/function button. The gold colored screws on the body are a nice aesthetic touch. It has an 1100mah internal battery with a maximum output of 30 watts. The Argus P1 had an 800mah battery with a maximum output of 20 watts so the P2 is a definite upgrade in capacity as well as aesthetics with the LED lights and more information on the display.

One side has the airflow adjustment that has a metal prong protruding for easy adjustment and there are three holes to allow the user to make adjustments from tight MTL to loose MTL or a tight RDL. The two holes near the top are where the user can connect the included lanyard if they choose to do so.

The pod opening has the usual two spring loaded contacts as well as two magnets and airflow sensor inlet for auto draw.

The Argus G2 is the upgraded version of the Argus G. One of the improvements of the G2 is the .96” color screen. It has 3 power adjustment modes - SMART, SUPER, and ECO. ARGUS G2 provides 3 UI interface choices and presents 3 animations including flames, flying saucers, and colorful cups. With two RGB LED lights on the device, users can freely control the status of the light bars. The built-in high-frequency vibration motor can remind the abnormal status of the cartridge and the device in time, bringing users a smooth control experience.

The display shows a battery level indicator, battery percentage, set wattage, mode of operation, resistance, puff counter, and lock/unlock symbol. The button operation for the Argus G2 has a couple different menus.

    • Press the fire button 2X to choose between Smart, Super, Eco, and Exit
    • Press the fire button 5X to choose between Power Off, Clear Puff, Lock/Unlock, Light On/Off, and Exit
    • Press the fire button 3X to change the wattage setting. The number will flash and will change by one watt with each button press

The Argus G2 has the Argus and GeneAI names on the front of the device along with the display screen. One side has the fire/menu button along with the USB-C charging port. The opposite side has the airflow control with three holes that can be adjusted from a tight MTL to a nice loose RDL. The airflow adjuster is very tight on the one that I received to the point where it was a little hard to move and literally has no chance of moving accidentally.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Argus P2 and Argus G2 do have higher output and upgraded pod cartridges compared to the previous versions of each. The biggest difference to me besides higher ouput is the light show going on with each device. I personally am not a huge fan of devices lighting up like a christmas tree but do think the graphics on the G2 are pretty neat.

I have never been a big fan of the square shaped pod devices. I tend to prefer the stick style like the G2. This is simply because the stick style fit nicely in a shirt pocket without being very noticeable. With this in mind, I’m sure that it’s no surprise that the G2 was my favorite of the two devices. It also helped that the G2 included the new 3ml pods while the P2 included 2ml pods. Both the 2 and 3ml pods are compatible with both devices as well as all of the previous Argus devices.

I decided to go with the .7 ohm pod in the P2. I filled the 2ml pod with a NET tobacco recipe that is a favorite of mine. The flavor and vapor production with the output set at 16 watts was very good. I did however notice that these new “top fill” pods bring out more of the sweet notes in this liquid than what I’m used to tasting. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but just different.

For testing the G2 I went with the .4 ohm pod with the 3ml capacity. It is also called a “top fill” pod. They are qualified as top fill since the fill port is near the top but still on the side. The way the pods fit in each device, the pod can be filled without being removed but to me are not a true top fill. For testing the .4 ohm pod I decided to go with an RY4 mix that is a long time favorite. As was the case with the .7 ohm pod, the .4 ohm pod gave pretty good flavor and vapor production. I started out at 23 watts and worked my way up to 29 and then 30 watts which is the maximum. I tried adjusting the airflow and wattage to get the type of vape I was looking for but struggled. Even at 30 watts it stlll seemed like the coil was under powered even with the airflow tightened down. It wasn’t bad but just not the optimal type of vape production that I was expecting at 30 watts.

I’d like to thank Voopoo and Hillary for sending the new Argus devices and spare pods for this review. Also a big thanks to the readers. I know this one got a little long but it tends to happen when covering two devices. Below are links to the website for both devices.

    Very nice review,hitt. :)
    Thanks Fran!
    Nice...lengthy reviews, Sir.

I've been using a Nord 5 recently, I never thought I would try a pod device, but being as it was included in a box of other goodies, curiosity got the better if me. I'll say, the one I'm trying isn't bad at all.
Thanks. I pocket carry a pod at work. It’s pretty convenient.
