I ordered some supposed Sony 18650 batteries from a sale recently and wanted to find out how I can tell if they are authentic. I know I should have stuck with RTD or one of the reputable flashlight sites but was ordering a couple other items and wanted to check out the Sony's. They have a QR code printed on the cover (204802171309221801334) but have what looks like a printed out label that reads "IMR 18650 2000mAh 3.7V" this label just looks a little sketchy but never having seen them in person just wasn't sure. Here's a pic of the label and QR code. imgur: the simple image sharer
Does anyone know how to verify if these are indeed authentic?

To my knowledge, Sony doesn't make a 2000 mAh IMR battery.

Sony hybrid batteries

us18650v3 IMR 2250mAh 10 Amps
us18650vct3 1600mAh 30A
us18650vtc4 2100 mAh 30A

However, I did a Google search and found the Sony us18650vtc4 30 amp model listed as a 2000 mah battery here: Sony VTC4 18650 30A 2000mAh Battery $11.99 - VividSmoke.com

You can come to your own conclusions.

Yeah it seems the actual label is up to the vendor to put on and was just hoping they mislabeled this at 2000mAh when it should really be 2100mAh. I also have read that the actual model should be printed in very faint dot matrix on the battery itself so I'll be checking that when I get home tonight. I do see "Sony 31" on the right edge of the pic I linked with the QR code.

The ones I got from bevapehappy.com have a clear sticker that reads "18650 3.7V 2100mAh" that appears to have been put on after they left the factory, the QR code and in very faint printing:

SE US18650UTC4
T C4A1XVJ04M
SONY 31

lengthwise down the side and a backwards, stylized, combined RU at the end of the block of printing.

I was a little leery about the sticker at first but with further examination I'm confident I have the right batteries.

Got home and these do have the fair printing on them. Missed it when I first looked. Second line is different than what you posted but I'm guess that is lot number or something. Mine have this.

SE US18650VTC4
T C4A1XVI22R
Sony 31

So, I believe these are the VTC4 2100mAh 30 amp batteries. Just mislabeled by the vendor like the other example above.
