I've been vaping without flavoring for several months. Mostly because after one night chain vaping I felt I just wanted a break from my flavoring and discovered, hey, not bad! Plus they changed the recipe of the flavor I liked and I do not like too many flavors. The VG has a nice sweetness to it already.
I have been using 70% VG for years and thinking, maybe I don't need the PG to carry the flavor since I'm not using any flavor. Then I see some are just using a drop of distilled water per 10ml for thinning VG. So that is interesting. Maybe I should not bother with the PG. Maybe no PG would be kinder to the lungs? Any thoughts?

I'm still on my last liter of pre-mixed base at 75/25 PG/VG. When I mix down the 100 mg/ml nic after the pre-mix is gone, I'll stay with the higher PG ratio that I prefer. When I started vaping I was using 50/50. I'll vape the straight unflavored base for a month or so, then I'll switch to a slightly flavored base for a month or so. That brings the PG/VG ratio closer to 80/20. Maybe I'll mix up a small batch that's higher on the VG side, just to see what it's like, but I doubt it. From what I understand, that would present me with a bit sweeter 'flavor' and bigger 'clouds', neither of which appeal to me.

OK, maybe 100% VG is a bad idea, but what about water vs PG?
IMO, you are safe up to about 15% distilled water when mixing with 100% VG.
If you are using AVG, it already has approx 10% water added.
You could also try using PEG400 if you have a PG sensitivity.

    ETA:
ECOpure Rich (The first UK manufactured eliquid, from Intellicig,~ 2009) was 100% VG+15% distilled water+4% EM.

I use high PG (60-70%) blends because I can't tolerate high VG--my chest feels heavy and yucky when I reach 50% VG.

Pure glycerol is too viscous to be vaped as is so it's always diluted with either PG or distilled water (10-15%). Whatever you prefer.

Oh, I've been vaping unflavored or barely flavored for years. Actually, unflavored reminds me of a light or rather ultra light cigarette taste. :D

I mostly vape Unflavored. In fact, None of my Squonkers have ever had a Flavored e-Liquid in their bottles.

What I do a Lot is what I call "Flavored Wicks".

And that is when I replace the Coil or Rewick, I prime the wick with a Flavored e-Liquid. Then fill the Tank or Squonk Bottle with Unflavored.

It Blows my mind How Much Flavor you can get, and How Long the flavor lasts from just 6 or 7 Drops on a New Wick.

As to running a Pure VG Base? Might work OK in an RDA. But it Isn't going to work so well in a Tank/RTA. And is kinda a One Way Ticket to Dryhitsville.

Pure VG is just Too Thick. So it Needs to be Thinned with Something. Like H20 or PG or even Grain Alcohol. Or perhaps, some Combination of the three.

I agree with what the others have said.

I wouldn't go above 70 percent vg using an RTA... you might run into wicking problems.

I would still use some PG. I have tried adding vodka or distilled water up until 10 percent, which works just fine. Haven´t tried adding a higher percentage though. Nowadays i just don't bother anymore and buy 70VG/30PG base for my DTL-clouds-bro-liquid.

Though i'm vaping 50VG/50PG liquid MTL-style most of the time now.

Try higher PG liquids though, you might like them. Just add more cotton to your build and/or adjust your juice-flow-control if you have one.
