Vaping in front of open laptop... could it cause liquid damage?

I know it's bad to directly blow cigarette smoke near computers because it can cause build ups and deposits inside the machine.

I'm now wondering if vaping could have some negative effects if too much vapour found its way inside my laptop. I'm using a 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and I'd hate to inadvertently cause liquid damage inside it from my vaping habits! I vape whilst using it often, and I blow the vapour out of my mouth in front of me, so normally in close proximity to the screen and keyboard. It suddenly struck me that vaping causing condensation on my car's windscreen after a few days of vaping and driving... so could it be doing something similar inside this super-expensive Mac?!

Thank you in advance for any advice!

The laptop I'm sitting at now has endured years of cigarette smoke blown directly at it. It's also endured 3+ months of vaping. None has had any detrimental effects on it that I've been able to tell. The screen doesn't need cleaning nearly as much as it did before quitting the cigarettes though.

I second that. My laptop is just fine. And I pretty much blow directly on it.

Don't exhale directly into the exhaust/intake ports for the computer and you'll be fine.

Contemporary laptops have very little airspace internally, the designs are incredibly "tight", components interlocked like a jigsaw puzzle. Most of the heat is transferred by conduction, not convection, as was the case with large desktops years ago ...

In other words, there not much airflow except around the processor heatsink, and that's exhaust from the bottom of the case ...

I've disassembled and repaired dozens of older desktops that were exposed to heavy tobacco smoke, and never saw one that had failed for the reason. Pretty dsgusting inside, but the smoke didn't kill them, usually it was pet hair or industrial contaminants ...

Chances are you will replace your current laptop or tablet long before it could be adversly affected by the minimal residue from vapor ...

Both my PC and Laptop have been bought in the last year, and have not had to endure cigarette smoke at all. On my old PC the cooling fan seemed to be most affected by smoking residue build up (i.e. it no longer functioned properly) and I seemed to be always cleaning my monitors. No I just deal with dust. So, unless you are blowing vapor directly into it, I don't think there is any real danger.

ETA: Meanwhile, my husband's PC, now that it has been cleaned a few times, is not longer affected by it's past exposure to cigarette smoke.

Pretty disgusting inside.

I have no illusions about how nasty mine is internally! I am actually impressed that it IS still working after all the smoke it's been exposed to considering layers of yellow gunk insulating cooling surfaces inside.

And yeah, I think he's bragging too! :) :)

Laptop air intakes are generally at the bottom, unless you intentionally blow it in there it would have a hard time of reaching the insides. As for what it might do - reconstituted e-liquid has very low conductivity, not enough to cause any trouble even if it was spilled on the pcb somewhere (and usually the air inside a laptop travels straight into a fan, through a heatsink and out without passing over anything vulnerable anyway). What it might do however is aid in dust buildup since vg/pg are quite good dust magnets.

So that's what killed my other 6 computers. Dang butts!!!
You may actually be more correct than you think

Cig smoke contains tar...tar when cool sticks to stuff and attracts massive amounts of dust and goo

This results in the fans building up a thick gooey layer of dust and tar

vaping won't do this as the PG rapidly evaporates right back into the environment

Another good thing about quitting smoking

I just think they wanted to brag

these machines are virtually unrepairable due to the design

This is so true ...

Last year at work, they called in a Dell technician to repair a known video card problem on all of our M6500s. He was a seasoned pro in his 40s, trained at the factory. I watched this guy open mine up, it was a like a cross between brain surgery and bomb defusing ...

He told me that the machines were never the same after a repair, and he was right. The keyboard was sprung, sat up high enough to contact the screen when the cover was closed, and felt mushy. And this was on an older model, not one of the newer thin designs ...

Laptops and tablets are built to be recycled, not repaired ...

When I was a smoker and used a tower more then my lap top I would have the hubby blow out my tower with his air compressor blowing just light air into it. I was amazed on how much dust and other things acquired inside that tower while we both smoked. Now we have our own laptops he quit smoking cigars when I started vaping and got off the analogs. My lap top has been through 3 years now of smoking and 6 months of vaping and all is good. I did notice the dust level in my house has decreased. But it being winter I am not getting all the dust from living to a main street that is very traveled. I think your lap top is fine.
