I'm going on vacation next month and this has been on my mind a bit.

I just got some tobacco flavored juice for the first time. Quite like it. But I went out to do some gardening yesterday and when I came back in there was definitely a slight cigarette-like odor in the kitchen. I'm thinking that would be a good one to avoid in hotel rooms.

Here's another thought. Bed buds in hotels are in the news lately and they advise you to take some bed bud spray with you. I have some stuff called Cedarcide. You can use it with a fogger to treat infected homes, it kills bed bugs on contact. It's just pure cedar oil in some neutral base. You can spray it on your skin as a mosquito repellant. It's got a rather strong cedar odor. I've taken a small spray bottle to hotels before, quick spray around the mattress when I get there, spray inside my suitcase before I leave. If there was any odor from vaping something like that would mask it completely.

Come to think about it, if you ever set off a fire alarm you could quickly blast the room with bug spray and who's to say that wasn't what set the alarm off. It's the same deal, a suspension of fine liquid droplets.

Cheeky, I like it :p could also go with the excuse you got a little carried away with the spray on deodorant

I just stood under the smoke detector in my house and blew a cloud at it. It went off immediately. That said I sub ohm 15 feet away from it all day and it has never gone off before. I would stick with the bathroom and blow it into the ceiling vent or vape near the window if it opens at all and avoid huge clouds in the room.

If you twist the cap off the fire detector you can pull the battery or power wire out, just make sure you put it back together before leaving.

There are different TYPES of smoke detectors.
Different TYPES of smoke detectors use different ways of deciding whether to trigger an alarm or not.

The ones which work optically are more likely to get triggered by anything that LOOKS LIKE smoke.

Ones that work chemically will not be triggered by vape

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I find this whole topic to be a non issue actually , this is what they mean by "don't sweat the small stuff" , this is small stuff.

I would be much more concerned about using an Istick and it auto firing and burning the hotel down then vapor setting off a smoke alarm.

Like another member said , pop the battery out if your nervous.

I'd be more concerned about having an istick... and it functioning correctly.

If you aren't allowed to vape in a hotel room should we really be telling people how to get around that rule?

Yes we should ... and we should also tell them to keep it a secret ... why the secret?

Because, there are people who would feel it is their duty to rat them out ;)

I'm sure smokers feel the same way about the rule as we do, when I smoked I thought the smell went away w/in 5 minutes of me putting it out.

and just vape in your car with the windows up and in no time you'll see a residue, so it isn't like vapor doesn't leave a trace.

With every up in arms about cartoon labels, talks of regulations, talks of flavor bans, you would think we would want to keep our image as clean as possible.

Yes, I think it is a stupid rule, but I think sitting at a red light at 2am with no one around for miles is kinda dumb, but I do it anyways

I was never that naive.

When in a seedy motel that stunk of the smoke trail lingering in the hall, I disabled the smoke detector and puffed away.

The radison... I went outside.

The hospital... I went outside until I couldn't. They sent the guards and police after me until i got sick of pushing them away. Didn't stop me from smoking though. I was an addict.

Vaping... Noone has ever noticed... and I do it in enclosed public places every day.

I voop with citizens in stalls on either side none the wizer.

Your assertions and comparisons aren't realistic.
