I haven't traveled since I started vaping so I really haven't thought about this. I'm on a business trip and staying at a fairly nice hotel. I've been running outside to vape and was thinking that I could possibly vape in my room.

Now I've never tested it but will the vapor set off the smoke alarm? I'm thinking that some smoke alarms are looking for a particulate amount which vapor would be just that. I really don't want to test that anyway since it wouldn't be a good thing as I am here for the next two weeks.

I tried vaping under the sheets but the clouds just don't seem to want to be contained. I'm thinking that the bathroom seems to be ok since they get steamy during a shower.

Anyone have experience with vape clouds and smoke alarms?

I, somehow, haven't set one off yet even vaping openly in the room. However, there was a nightmare story on here a couple weeks ago about someone setting an alarm off, the entire hotel getting evacuated, firemen, and the whole shebang. So I will certainly be much more careful next time.

I was staying at a motel 6 the past weekend and I vaped in my hotel room the whole time when there was a smoke detector in the room and nothing happened. I even opened the door and windows to let some of the smoke out cause it was pretty smoky in there. I'd say your ok as long as you don't blow straight towards the smoke detector.

I'm planning a trip in July. Myself and a fellow vapor will be staying in a Holiday Inn Express, non smoking room. After reading threads about vapeing in hotel rooms gone bad, were packing a few shower caps! While we're occupying the room shower caps will be in place over the smoke detectors. Seems to work for others, good enough for us :thumb:

When I used to travel and smoke, there was always an easy way to disable the smoke alarm. Just remember to fix it before you leave.

And don't be seen vaping in there. Some places make you pay a $200+ clean up fee if caught vaping or smoking. With smoking they can smell it and charge your CC. With vaping it has to be seen.

To that end, be sure you've cleared the room of vapor before housekeeping shows up.

I just vape , don't really care if it's allowed or not allowed, as long as i payed for the room and i am not offending anybody thats all that matters.

I vape like crazy in a room that frequented by others who do not vape or smoke and not a single person yet has ever noticed anything different. No faint smells , no clouds etc, never have i set off an alarm from vaping anywhere.

I hate clouds actually , imo, clouds are the thing that make people think vaping is bad news .

I am always on travel for work and I have never set off a smoke detector. Even on vacation with me and the wife vaping. Hotels have regular smoke detectors, airplanes however have partical detectors and will go off with vape.

That is not true some hotels have started using the partical detector type.

I travel quite a bit and vape in hotel rooms with no issues so far (knock on wood). I stealth vape in the room though, use a little PT Mini 2 or a Reo with RM2 and strictly M2L vape. Inhale the vape, inhale again on top of that, maybe one more time, and you exhale nothing or almost nothing at all. Works like a charm.

    Works for me anyway...
