As you might guess, I have parrot roommates. One of them sneezes exactly like me. Then she tries to follow up with "excuse me"... but it comes out as "kiss-beak"

What kind of parrot do you have? I miss my parrot. :( We used to have an African Grey. I grew up with a Blue Front Amazon & a Cockatoo

Pollen is essentially "plant sperm". Therefore, this makes Hay Fever an STD. Since no one voluntarily takes in pollen, I've concluded, we are all being raped by trees!

All I can say is... Wow.... And trying not to envision a human-ragweed hybrid.

Redhen I have an African Grey, Gracie -- and a Cape, Chuy (on my shoulder). They both talk a lot, but Gracie is a chatterbox. They are amazing, and they make me laugh... Wow you're parrot-less now? You need to fix that!!

I lost 2 dogs within one year... and the parrots still call for them.

We bought our Grey (Nina) while we lived in Hawaii. I only had her for two years and we decided to find her a new home when we moved back to the mainland. It was a really hard decision. I sold her to a retired woman who was active in a local avian association and spends tons of time clicker-training her to fly. I wouldn't have given her up if I hadn't found the right person. We visited her a few times before we moved and she was very happy... except she tried to fly for me the last time I left when I was going out the door. :( I loved her dearly but I have anxiety that tends to be set off by noise (and she really wasn't that loud, considering I used to live with a cockatoo)... living with her made me on edge all the time. :( I have chickens now, instead... 14 of them! All the bird love (they are pretty snuggly) but none of the noise in my house.

Well the jury is still out... Went a few days not sneezing - just my usual mold allergy symptoms (watery red eyes etc). So I decided there was no connection to vaping. Then yesterday I sneezed whenever I vaped. Go figure!!

socalfisher, I do the nasal rinse too. It helps a lot, esp the red eyes. Was using Zyrtec every day & decided it's not helping much, so have gone back to tried & true Benadryl and Sudafed.

The sneezing is still a reaction to a foreign invader, interpreted by the body as a threat it needs to rid itself of.

You sound like you suffer from allergies in general. If this is the case, you will have some days of sneezing as a reaction to vaping and some days of none at all, depending on how overwhelmed your body is with allergens on that day. From pets, dust, mold, pollen and many many others, there are more than enough irritants to go 'round. Neti Pots, while good, will only cleanse the lower parts of the sinuses (namely the nasal passages and throat) and not the upper. Saline salt rinses are a nice addition though and shouldn't be overlooked just in the fact that the PH is nice and neutral. So I would continue with that. But the main thing is to eat fresh Cilantro and up Vitamin C intake along with plenty of water daily. Throw in a clove of raw garlic and onion every now and then if you can. If the issue is simple allergies and not deficiency, I have found that this will usually clear or at least vastly improve the issue. Antihistamines in the meantime can keep the symptoms at bay but above usually provides a more long-term solution for an allergy issue.

Thanks so much, Swer... Good stuff. I think you're spot-on about about the body being overwhelmed with allergens on some days. Then the bucket overfloweth.

Yes - it's a biiigggg struggle, allergies. I do the Neil Med sinus "flush" daily w/ saline solution plus an added herbal mixture. It works better than a neti pot. Gets up higher.

I've taken a lot of steps to clean up my diet and improve my health in general (incl. no more smoking!) And actually do eat fresh garlic almost daily. LOVE it... Do take vit. C... I've heard of cilantro for heavy metal detoxing, but not in relation to allergies. Interesting. I love cilantro too so i'll grab more of it.

Around here there are many allergens - but mold is year-round. It's a constant battle. I'm trying to avoid allergy shots & medications - but the OTC mets are a necessity now so I can function.

Redhen, thanks for the honey tip!! But I've cut out all sugars so I avoid honey now. Sadly.

Well enough of me going on about health woes. Going to ignore the occasional sneezing bouts & keep on vaping!

Yeah Bundles, the Cilantro would be for the chelation effect. Most allergy sufferers in my experience have a toxic metal problem. As you know us former smokers have it twice as bad due to the metals in cigs. The big offenders being mercury from water, chocolate and sodas, and then lead, cadmium etc. from the cigs and other sources. Aluminium is also an issue with tinned foods and cans of soda etc. With a heavy metal toxicity, you already have your foreign bodies overwhelming the system, so the when other allergens are added it immediately starts a purging effect to try rid itself of this new invader (sneezing, coughing, nose etc.). In many ways this is similiar to an auto-immune disorder.

The Cilantro is a great, cheap way to get these out, obviously accompanied by fluids to assist. I have seen it cure allergies altogether in many people. Even those who claim a genetic link are usually the children of a mother whos blood was high in metals during pregnancy and so have a predisposition to it. Just eat fresh handfuls throughout the day if you like the taste or add it to a salsa fresh but obviously avoid cooking it.

Sugar can exasperate the issue, so good job on giving it up. It's quite an addiction when it gets a hold of you. And of course, it feeds into mold.

To keep mold issues at bay I take Boron and Xylitol. You can also look into certain healthy mushrooms sold in health food stores which help you build up a tolerance to it. Here in S. Texas mold is an issue too as it is so dry. People associate it mainly with indoor buildings but the Mesquite trees are shedding it from their leaves constantly so it is always present in the air. Some places are worse than others but most people live with millions of mold spores floating around them in the outdoors and never really notice. It's just a fact of life. But then, most people aren't overwhelmed already with allergens and so are able to filter it out with no issues.

I dabble a bit in nutrition and biochemistry so I came across it many years ago. The binding of metals by cilantro has been proven in studies but it has long been used as an herbal supplement before that and is mentioned in folklore remedies even longer. IIRC the study cited most recently involved the binding of lead when cilantro was administered to rats. I am sure you can find them online.

It should be taken for a few weeks, always fresh and consistently with maybe 1 day off a week. Not a quick fix but a possible cure if you put in the time - at least from my experience. Worth a shot eh? It's just parsely and they sell it like 50c at grocery stores which beats Alavert or Zyrtec.

I would also add that there are other ways to approach allergies in the short term, without plugging yourself up with painkillers and antihistamines. Apple cider vinegar is good for immediate relief if you're miserable as is Turmeric the spice. Although many will swear by ACV I have had more success with Turmeric in my own trials and its proven more consistent in relieving symptoms. With the acv I would say there is a 50/50 ratio of relief which, I suspect the ones getting better are having a mold-related allergy problem where for the others it is does little to nothing since the issue is metals - just my theory. But if you're looking for stuff to try these are the two I have seen results with.

Thanks for the info! Yes, I take Bragg's ACV (which is better than caffiene for a cognitive kick) and my wife is Indian so just about everything we eat has tumeric in it :) Thanks again!

I use Bragg's too... but lately haven't been taking it. For about 6 months I took ACV along with 2 cloves of crushed fresh garlic daily (in a little apple juice)!! I actually got to where I didn't mind the taste! (but I adore garlic - especially fresh).

Today I've had 2 Benadryls, one Sudafed, and a Zyrtec -- and I still have burning runny eyes. This is just NUTS.

I happen to have some turmeric. Swer, how do you take the turmeric? Snort it?? Ha - I might just try that. Or mix it in my nasal wash... I use this product in the nasal wash. just LOVE it.

I'm going to make some of this tonight. I always have coconut milk around.

I usually do Turmeric in tea or just by the spoonful. It is far easier to take than Cayenne or Habanero so I am fine with it either way. Putting it in a neti pot wont yield optimal results really.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems. You say this got to this level with VG? I personally would assume my previous theory if it were happening with me; an overburderning of allergens (big and small) where a final one sent the body "over the edge" so to speak.

Try the cilantro for the metal issue, in my exp. ppl with allergies create an environment within the body for them to accumulate. And they never really leave because they bind and cant mobilize. Also look for some Xylitol gum in the dental department of the store. It's like $1.
