Still having cough fits with phlegm (productive cough), no infection, just heavy deep lung vaping. Taking mouth drags and exhaling slowly and thru my nose (to get a better taste sensation) has helped noticeably. Hopefully, as I learn to vape more that way, the productive cough will diminish....vaping over smoking anyday!!! :vapor:

I've been smoking Newports for years. I just made the switch to vape. I havent touched a cigarette in 2 days. Making the switch I tend to cough and choke on the slights inhale of vapor. I have to take smaller drags until i gradually inhale larger amount. Does anyone go through the same thing? or have gone through the same thing? I figured smoking Newports were the worst thing that i can inhale-cigarettewise, so vaping should pose that amount of stress on my lungs? Could it be that i am introducing my lungs to a whole new element? or could it be what im vaping on? I use the Halo Triton.

That's not necessarily unusual. My very first "drag" on an e-cig, I thought I'd cough up a lung. :)

Biggest thing seen among folks who just switched is inhaling vapor like smoke. In smoking, you're drawing the smoke into your lungs to get the nicotine. The primary absorption is in the lungs. With vaping, the primary absorption is in the mouth and nasal passages (especially if you exhale through the nose, which I do much of the time).

You can inhale vapor into your lungs, some do to make it even more "like smoking", but it's not really necessary. A more shallow inhale like, oh, a cigar or pipe is fine. "Puff" on it more at first. Hold the vapor in your mouth a bit longer. Don't inhale into your lungs. You can try exhaling through your nose instead. See if that works okay for you.

Later, if you feel you want to do the deeper inhale "like smoking", sure, go ahead. But it's optional. When I smoked, I inhaled really deep. Barely exhaled any smoke (my lungs must be chunks of coal by now). With vaping, I do a shallow thing. Hold in the mouth (because it's tasty! :) ) and exhale through the nose (that picks up extra flavor and nicotine).

I can, now, do as deep an inhale as I want. But lungs don't have taste buds. So I don't bother. :)

Also, your nicotine level in your vapor may be too high. That "throat hit" some people like (I don't, not even when I smoked), can irritate your throat. I bought a couple of NJoy disposables to mess around with this week. They're really strong. Don't make me cough but do irritate my throat some.

You may need to lower your nicotine level. You might vape more then to get the nicotine your body wants but that's no big deal. Folks who switch often "chain vape" at the beginning as they adjust to this new "vaping" thing.

See if it helps any...
