I got a personal expenses app for my phone, I set up a vaping budget that automatically added the amount I spent on cigs every week as an income and I enter all my purchases as an expense. Setting aside my initial pre filled cig-a-like purchase, done with no research, I am about $50 worse off. However I have 4 batteries, about 10 clearo with some spare heads, several chargers and about 4 months of juice in stock. If I can hold off for those 4 months I will be about $400 in credit.

Most of my expense is equipment,,,,,,I like the Ego sized batts, which means replacing those about every 3 months,,,,,,the cost for this is about 200.00 a year. (Anyone know of any roughly Ego sized tube mods????)

The cost that drives me crazy is cartomizers,,,,,,,,when I first started, I was using cartos that came out to about 1.00 each, and I got a minimum of 3 days out of one,,,,,,IDK what happened, but the manufacturer of those cartos changed SOMETHING, and now the juice burns and gets brown and gunky in those cartos much quicker. I've had to bump up to more expensive cartos,,,,

I tried an EVOD, thinking replaceable heads would make that cheaper,,,,,,and it probably would if I LIKED them,,,,,,but,,,,,I just really prefer my cartos. I feel like I'm sucking air when I use the EVOD.

I make my own juice, and my tastes are, frankly,,,,,,,,boring. Single flavor fruits,,,,,probably the easiest possible juices to DIY.

Juice is cheap, I tell you,,,,it's the equipment that kills me

I've spent 380$ this month so far on vaping equipment. At 4.75 a pack a day = $142.50. This wasn't a typical month. I generally spend 100$-200$ a month on vaping equip.
But I didn't have bronchitis last year or this year so far. My meds + copay for bronchitis each year (usually twice a year) =$220 annually. So that added an average of 18.33 a month to my smoking tab. Let's not forget lighters (if I have to count the cost of my tanks and cartos in my vaping cost.) I probably used two bics a month at 2$ apiece. So far smoking would be running me $142.50 + 18.33 + 4 = 164.83. My average vaping cost a month has averaged out to be $167.50 (based on data for 18 months of purchases.)

Just looking at the monetary concerns, yes vaping can be more expensive for up-front out of pocket expenses. Is it worth it? For me, it certainly is.

With my recent MVP purchase and the mistakes of bad gear I'll be at least another three month to break even. But I feel better than I have in a long time. It's hard to put a price on quality of life improvements. Breath easier, sense of taste and smell returning, no longer smelling like an ash tray, etc.

No matter what you spend on ecigs I'd bet it's cheaper than treating COPD, emphysema, cancer, etc. That's how I look at it anyways.

I buy my juice (Dekang Desert Ship) from eliquidmarket.com for $10.95 for as 50ml bottle so it costs me less than a dollar a day to vape. Beats $6.25 a pack for cigarettes. I know some folks contend that the Dekang brand is "cheap, Chinese" juice but I LIKE IT!! I've tried some of the, what I call "designer juices", and they all pretty much have sucked. I've poured all of it down the sink because the flavor was so terrible! I didn't start vaping to save money...I did it to save my life. Actually I've probably spent more money since I started vaping that I spent when I smoked as all the high-tech equipment, stands, etc. add up. But I don't have any regrets because I don't stink anymore and my wife LOVES it.
