I just got back from the hospital. I went because I could not wait for a dentist appointment. I would have seriously torn the teeth out of my head before then.

The nurses and doctor said that my gums did not appear to have any signs of an infection. They said that my gums were highly ...... off at me from using the dental pick and floss, brushing too much and the constant use of mouth wash and salt water in the past week. The doctor prescribed me a mouth rinse called "Chlorhexidine Gluconate" and a bottle of "Amoxicillin" antibiotic that I probably will not need being that there's nothing infected. He told me to hold off on taking the Amoxicillin and just use the mouth rinse for now.

I have a feeling that if I was still smoking cigarettes my gums would have never swollen up this big. I think you guys/girls were right about having better blood flow through the gums that would cause this to happen. It will probably be even more severe for me since I started taking Coumadin (blood thinner) at the same time I stopped smoking.

Maybe this thread can help prevent someone else from taking an unnecessary trip to the ER. Emergency room visits are not cheap.

I never had a bad gum problem but I still use this when brushing my teeth

I rinse with that daily. It helps with vapers tongue too! i found that my teeth would hurt considerably when high PG levels were in my liquids , so I get 70vg or 50/50 now and it has gotten better!

I was prescribed that rinse when I found out I had gingivitis. I was a dumbass that never flossed till recently. Didn't stain my mouth or teeth, though the dentist did warm me it was a risk, and could be polished off if it happened. It does taste wretched.

Talk to a dentist soon about what the issue could be, if you're good about flossing and actually own a dental pick, seems strange you would get swollen gums to this extent, even as a smoker. Smoking really sucks for your gums and quitting will make all the problems appear that were hidden by the numbness and lack of circulation smoking causes. Still, generally to have something like this and actually be good about your oral care is weird enough I'd want a dentist's opinion right away.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I may have a rare PG allergy. I have been vaping mostly PG based liquids since my mouth got wrecked. I noticed every time I took a hit on the heavy PG juices that my gums were screaming. They felt like they were trying to pull away from my teeth every time I took a vape.

I just decided to use a 80vg juice and now I can vape with comfort. My gums do not rage every time i take a vape now. Tomorrow I am going to buy some 100% VG juice and vape on it for a few days and see if the issue with my gums goes away.

Your not alone, I am currently also suffering this horrific nightmare. At first I thought it was sensitive teeth but as the day went on I started to think geez what did I do to my jaw.. All on the right ride. It basically feels like sensitive teeth x10 plus the feeling that you have been chewing gum non stop for days. After day one of this I thought there was something wrong with one of my teeth but i couldnt really locate which tooth it was so I then thought maybe I grind my teeth or clench my teeth while i sleep since i have been under some stress with work but I realized when I wake up I feel better, its not gone but its better, so it wasnt that. Then I went to take a drag off my ego-t and it dawned on me as the pain got worse that it was my e-smoke. I have cut back quite a bit on vaping since I realized but ya know im addicted and all so even the pain is making me stressed out and want to smoke. I am basically hating my life! I have decided this morning to not vape at all.. im gone cold turkey. I vape a 70pg to 30 vg mix at 12-18 nic. so I am curious to know if switching to vg will get rid of this problem. I have already thought.." its from the nicotine! " and went down to a 0mg I had... it is not that, no change at all. I will let you know if it goes away with no vaping once so ever.

so, quitting smoking is going to make me have problems I never had before? In that case I'll just forget vaping and start smoking again.

Nahhhh buddy, you don't want to do that!!!!!
Remember the list of side effects associated with the quit smoking aids. Too numerous to waste space here.

Alright, so I went all day yesterday with no vaping, this morning no pain but crazy stiffness in my jaw.. but hey no pain! I wanted to add that I am not a newbie vaper or a recent quitter of smoking. I quit smoking over a year ago, I think this is caused by too much vaping as of recently. So far all morning I havent had any real pain, but it still feels awkward and uncomfortable enough that i dont want to eat on the right side of my face. I have no swelling or angry looking gums etc .. it just is what it is I suppose. The only thing I have been doing is brushing with sensitive tooth paste and even just covering the whole right side with it and leaving it for a few minutes yesterday when the pain was killing me.. and advils every 4-6 hours depending on how I felt. This morning I skipped on the pain meds and I am now at work so I am hoping this doesnt kick me in the .... later but i want to see where I am really at with this (and im not big on pain meds to begin with) Last night I was in some serious pain (like to the point of TEARS) that I had to will myself to sleep.. and I have a crazy pain tolerance. This teeth and jaw pain thing is unbearable, I am happy for a bit of a break this morning.
I will admit I struggled big time yesterday and wanted to run out a buy a pack of smokes, I still kinda feel like that this morning but I am trying to hang on for dear life lol I know I am not vaping a damn thing until this is completely gone and I have a solution or theory as to how this wont happen again. The more VG based liquids seem to be the route to go but I really never ever ever want this ever ever again. SERIOUSLY. ugh.

Try to lay off the PG for a while and see what happens.

I'm doing an experiment right now. I noticed the energy supplement I always pour into my bottled water is also loaded with propylene glycol. I haven't used any of it today and have only vaped only on a 80vg juice. It's hard to find 100% vg juice at any of the local shops around here.

My gums are still very swollen but they do not feel as if they are on fire now. Until now, they felt like they had battery acid in them. I have probably caused severe damage to the enamel on my teeth since this happened a week ago. As a matter of fact I know I have. But since I have laid off the PG my gums are not driving me insane anymore.

Lay off the PG for a while and let me know the results. Seems I'm not the only one having this nightmare issue.

Could it as simple as plaque? I always have sensitive teeth, I consider myself to have high tolerance of pain, but when it comes to teeth, I always ask the dentist for lots of anaesthetic, we dont hv nitrogen oxide.

Ever since I vape, I experience minor tooth ache. I remember everytime the dentist blow fresh air to clean our teeth, thats when my tooth ache, so I thought vaping prolly does the same thing.
