Hello) Want to give you some information about custom firmware, some dude makes it. This firmware gives you TONS of features, like profiles, advanced TC, screen brightness control and a lot of.

Official site: NFE Team

For using you should download NFE ToolBox (firmware updater and tweaker) and ArcticFox - there is firmware for flashing. There is exist nightly build (and release candidate) and stable versions, I use RC.

If you have a question - I'll try to answer)

I hope it helps somebody. :)[/SIZE]

Why i created this: Toolbox is VERY cool stuff, but, in my opinion is very unpopular even in Russia. Also, it could be very hard for newbie. So, you can help this project)

I tried this stuff on 100W TC, because it have very unfriendly and long profile switcher, not I can manually set and edit coil resistance with accuracy 0.00x ohm (it helps for SS), can change voltage cut-off from ~3.3 to 3.0 vots, it shows clock, puff counter, live ohm-volt-amps and other things).

OK) It's quite strange that discussion is so small, in Russia this thread has about >350 pages. May be Russians like customize their mods more.

//What profit I have: I have some suggestions for firmware, like infinity «puff» and I wrote about some usability errors, but the Developer usually have his own opinion and quite hard to prof something, Russians does not like usability))

This thread is an advertisment... nothing to respond too.
I have nothing from that, just an altruism and official manual copy).

Firmware is great, not, GREAT. One guy from ecigtalk recently wrote that he use nichrome for TC on Pico. May be it's possible on stock fimrware, but in this case it is much more easy.

I had shelved my RX mods in the beginning of January because the RX200S had quit working properly for some reason, and the RX200 never did have the flexibility I needed in TC mode. I moved on the DNA boards and was very happy. I came across a thread about ArcticFox, and decided to give it a try on the 200S. What a big difference it made! TC was working better on the mod than it ever did before, and there was quite a bit more adjustability to personally tailor my vape to match what I liked. It's still not a DNA, but it's breathed new life into it. I grabbed one of the RX200 mods and updated it, and go tthe same result...and finally the ability to TC vape without much concern of burnt cotton.

I've got a couple VF Classics on the shelf, as well as the Cuboid and Cuboid Mini that I plan on upgrading as the need arises.

Thank you to whoever came up with this firmware upgrade. It's not DNA level of greatness (battery usage still high) but it's given me the ability to get close enough with my older gear, that I can enjoy my vape even without the DNA

However, I still wish I could charge the batteries in the mod. No amount of firmware upgrade will make me feel confident enough to do that.
Yeah charging in the mod... is more a hardware thing anyway....

Besides.. charging is when most real battery related failures occur anyway......

It's a good thing to have to use a charger.

Thanks for the information I've got everything ready to put it on, but have been waiting still. I will do this tonight

it's not true, more-less.

Actually, it allows you to improve your battery experience.

In this page you could improve your battery.

For example, you could change zero from around 3.3 default to 3.0 volts. It's "usually" cut-off

Another cut off in bottom left. It's voltage cutoff when battery in use.

Some people think that battery drain is higher, it connected with not real voltage to percent converter. ArcticFox configurator has some preset for different types of batteries.

I'm using the preset for my 25r's. When I referred to battery life, I'm comparing it to the efficiency of the DNA250 and time between charges. I get a few hours more on the DNA than I do on the RX200 or 200S. I don't believe that this program will change the efficiency, but it will allow you to tailor it a bit better. I also charge in the mod with the DNAs, which is something I would never do with other mods.

BTW, I just uploaded it to the VF Classic, loaded the Crown II with a 0.5 ohm coil, and am enjoying the Crown in TC mode...something that never worked too well on the old firmware. I won this combo last year at VCCPA16 in Pittsburgh, used it for less than 3 days, then cleaned it up and put it back in the box. Now, I can't put the thing down, and have gone through 3 tanks of Kingdom Elixir's Ska Doosh, something else I picked up at VCC.

I've loaded it on the Cuboid too, but have yet to try it out. I'm pretty confident that it will work just as well as it has on other mods.

I can not compare with DNA). As for me, I use iStick 100w TC (and I am not developer).

I do not love RX because they use serial connection and does not have balance device - it's about RX 200s and 2/3, as I know, RX 200 have them. I love parallel connection)

Firmware has battery voltage offcet, may be it will be useful.

Also, this stuff has TC check off option, so mod close eyes on permanent resistance. It helps in some thing and you could use it on >=0.05 Ohm (nobody can guarantee your mod will be OK, but my mod is OK)

What is battery voltage offset?
As I know, this is actually if device can not recognize true voltage of battery.

This is manual from similar firmware GitHub - ClockSelect/myevic: This is myevic Custom Firmware.
Battery Voltage Offset submenu
Corrective offset value of the battery voltage. Depending on your box, the displayed battery voltage may be off by a few tens of millivolts. It's usually not a concern, but it may make the box locking the vape too early (wasting some battery capacity) or too late (box resets due to low voltage when firing).
Use an external accurate voltmeter (your battery charger may do the job) to compare the displayed voltages on the box to the actual battery voltages, then adjust the displayed voltages with this item.
Range is -1.00 to +1.00 Volts by step of 10mV.

  • On a single-cell box, only the first setting (B1) is significant. B2 and B3 are ignored.
  • On a fixed dual-cells box, the two first settings (B1 & B2) are used, respectively, for the first and the second battery (depending on the box, you'll have to determine wich one wich with your voltmeter). B3 is ignored.
  • On a mixed single/dual-cells box, B1 is used for the lone battery in single-cell setting, and B2 & B3 for the two cells in a dual-cell setting.
  • On a triple-cell box, B4 is ignored.
  • On a quad-cell box, I let you guess.
Also, may be you will like this firmware myevic, but it not compatible with smallscreen devices and may be have less functions GitHub - ClockSelect/myevic: This is myevic Custom Firmware.

Hmm. It's not very hard, but I need to improve my English)

Preheat type: relative - if you have 100W power, 150%, 2s Preheat time and 1s delay gives you 100W power on 1 sec, 150W on 2-4 sec, but TC will have bigger priority (as I know), so your cotton will not burn anyway
Curve preheat is curve preheat like this

upload_2017-2-22_9-0-29.png

Modes(coil material): it have TCR with permanent coefficient and TFR is not linear TC, theoretically it should works better, but I use TCR (sing does not has TFR)

Resistance: it's just base resistance. Sometime it helps me catch temperature, if you get how TC works.

Temperature Dominant: when its turned on, on main screen you see Temp with big font, in opposite you get wattage control.

Also, in "mode" you could change PI(d) values. You could get better TC, but should undestand how PID works.

From myevic help
  • P, I, D

The 3 parameters controlling the Proportional, Integral and Derivative part of the PID algorithm. You should familiarize yourself with the PID algorithm before playing with those parameters. Many papers exist over the internet on the subject.
A long fire resets the parameter to its default value.
Default values are (600,850,0). They are general-purpose values that should work in most cases, but may not be perfect and need to be tuned for any particular setup.
Algorithm is implemented in its independant form.
Sample time (50Hz) is scaled to one for parameters uniformity.
    Units: P is expressed in mW/°C, I in mW/°C/s, D in mW.s/°C.
