I suspect it is you more than the VG. I just tasted my ES VG and it doesn't have any aftertaste at all to me. It is sweet and warmish feeling but that is about it. I think Humco has more of an aftertaste than the ES does and its taste is pretty minimal. Wizard tastes pretty similar to the ES as in sweet almost syrupy and warm feeling with no noticeable after taste past a lingering sweetness. And to be honest I've never even picked up the sweetness when actually vaping. PG and myself? That is a whole different story as I can't get past the taste at all if the mix is higher than 50/50. It tastes like bad cough syrup to me and that association carries over into the vape. I didn't realize it though till after I tasted PG and went "glarg".

what I take from this thread is :

buy your mixing fluid from the same place (brand) and try to keep EXP. DATES close...

(and keep the KY in a separate location) :pervy:
Nice my friend. Long time no chat. Yeah, I am def going to start getting all from one place. May start taking the Pepsi challenge from a couple different vendors. Im right at an hour away from Wizard Labs and hopefully when they get their new labs completed I can just drive over and pick some up. Never heard of the extreme vaping place but they seem to like to boast on their site how they have the best and cleanest and purest so I will probably try them to as a previous poster suggested.

I see most people say the VG has a natural sweetness to it. I never really wanted to taste any of this stuff by mouth but I just tried the no nic VG from essential depot as well as cracked open a bottle of VG I have from healthcabin and both had same "no smell", same viscosity and both had the same taste. Probably the most disgustingly strange thing I have ever tasted. But at least now I have something to compare it to in the future. :) Thanks for all your troubleshooting questions, they were very helpful.

Just a couple side notes here, Nic level+ plus pg level = throat irritation. As much as you want that nic level up that was probably the first problem and you tried to fix it the wrong way by adding more flavor, Too much flavor will give you an off taste I don't care what ratio your using. Dump this batch I think you have pushed the limits of flavor and adding more product to it at this point is a waste.

I'm guessing the extra high vg ratio threw off my recipes in a major way that I just wasn't expecting. But I swear, the recipes tasted just like KY. I even went to some standby known good juices I store bought for a while to clean the palette. Then tried the ky jelly juice and it was still KY.

Thanks to all the members that pointed out good troubleshooting methods and testing without flavors. I honestly never thought to try that as I assumed it would be worse than taking a dry hit. I am confident my base is good, now on to trying to figure out my flavor issues.

@Finally, one last thing, if you ordered the vg from amazon, the picture they have shows MEDICAL GRADE on the label. However in the description it states FOOD GRADE. The bottle I got was food grade so I did not get what was pictured. Still seemed to be excellent quality though.

Did you eat or drink anything prior, could it be your tastebuds are off, sinus issue?

nope, I even switched to known good vendor bought juice that vaped tasted just fine. After cleansing the palette tried again, still KY. Tried again today, still KY. It has to be something in the flavors. The unflavored nic base vapes just fine with no KY taste.

I bought straight from ED "kosher usp food grade" whatever that means. Wonder what's the difference between food grade and medical grade?

Well according to a sticky in this subform by one of the forum founders, the only VG that should be inhaled is pharma grade and never food grade due to contaminants.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/277267-purity-pg-vg-peg-short-version.html

However everyone else in the forum says to use food grade. I guess since everyone else is jumping off the bridge I am too.

Pharmaceutical grade is a step higher on the ladder than food grade. So pharmaceutical grade is safe for food but not necessarily the reverse. Having a food grade notation on a pharma grade product doesn't void the pharma grade.

edit to add that you absolutely should be using pharma grade.

Yeah maybe your flavors or at least one of them is causing a reaction, its defective. LOL

I've never tasted KY so I have no clue.

I use 100 % VG, with C-5 clearomizer on a Ego Thread battery. I have no issues, I even stopped using Nicotine. My husband doesn't even know why I'm vaping. I told him because I have 40 years of trained muscle movement of going from hand to mouth to inhale. You do not break that habit overnight.

I've ordered from wizard labs.I can say their stuff is top grade and as good as "pure hydro" and worth a whole jar of chits. It even comes with a picture of letters and lines all connected together like we know what it means BUT it also comes in english writing underneath it so even us non chemical engineers would know what we have.

I'm not gonna ask how anyone knows what KY jelly tastes like nor if they add any of the flavorings they get like pina collada or cherry to it.
