Traveling to India with vaping kit

Hi all.

Has anyone travelled to India with vaping gear? I am planning a trip this fall which will last a minimum 6 months, possibly a year. I would like to take my collection of 5 or 6 mods along, plus various atomizers and a good supply of juice. I expect to carry the mods and batteries in my carry-on and the atomizers, juice, spare coils, etc., in checked baggage. I know it's legal in the U.S., but I am curious as to how Indian customs are likely to view my kit. Anyone have any experience? Thanks. jw

Good luck. I was in India last year, but this was before I started vaping. Airport security is a huge pain in the azz and completely random. I had to dig out am Altoids tin that I keep AA and AAA batteries in to show them, and explain that they are just batteries. Not sure if they'll know the difference between regular Ni-Cd batteries and Li-Po ones. I would suggest keeping your batteries in your carry on bag and the rest of your gear in your checked bag. But that wont help if you have to transfer your bags for a second flight, as you'll have to run all your stuff through security. It's easier getting in and out of Nigeria than it is in India. You can blame the British for that.

Well I am from India,,,and so far ecigs are legal here,,,cant say much about the customs though...And it depends where are you landing in India...just as in the US,laws could vary depending upon the state...In any case, you may need to pay some custom duty for your products..It ll be easier in the North as compared to the South India..E-liquids may cause more problems..
The easiest way would be to post your vaping gear and liquid ahead of your arrival to someone you know through a good courier service like DHL or fedex...
the other way would be to arrive here with an Indian guy who knows how to "deal" with stuff at the airport..

I appreciate the input. This will be my third trip to India and the first with vaping gear. I am surprised a country like India, with so many smokers and chewers, would be averse to vaping. If they make me pay a duty, no big deal. I just don't want to lose my Provari. Or the tanks and drippers. Or the juice, for that matter. Since Delhi flights usually arrive at 1:00 am, maybe they won't be in a mood to hassle me about it. Anyway, thanks for the advice. jw

Delhi should be less problematic..but like i said b4,the best way is to send your gear ahead of your arrival to some1 u know...
and the problem in india is not with vaping at all..whenever i vape outside, ppl here just look with interest and curiousity..not distaste..so ur concern here is whether airport guys ll understand what the "metal tube" is..or they ll think if its some kinda detonator..or may b some new way to smoke weed,etc..and e juice ll be much harder to explain..

Thanks guitarmafia. It's the airport personnel I was referring to. I find the average citizen as you say, curious and interested- a condition I find very refreshing as they're open and friendly as well. So, I am thinking of carrying sufficient literature (printed receipts and website listings) which I hope will help to explain exactly what the airport officials are looking at. Failing that, if anything is confiscated, there is always FastTech for cheap and quick replacements. Anyway, looking forward to getting back. jw

Let us know how you did get on please.

I flew into Delhi International in Sep 2013 and had no problems. On my flight from Delhi Domestic to Ahmedabad there were no issues either nor on the flight back to Delhi. To be on the safe side I did opt to leave my more advanced gear home and bring Evod clearomizers + batteries only.

knock knock .... i am from india too ... and have travelled in and out many times .... just a few quick tips -

When they stop you at customs, following answer with confidence will get you through like a breeze

1. mods - they are the torch and batteries, customs and/or any airport security will buy it 100%.
2. for the liquid - its perfume bottles for the gift for friends and family. and if you have many bottles then at the max they will ask you to open and show, just make sure that the bottles you are carrying does not have any labels for nicotine or eliquid or alike. just open and show them the the fragrance and they will buy it.

i buy my stock, from isa, and carry it personally with me to india ... and the same has been working out from last 2 years .... :)

ENJOY YOUR VAPE !!

I have flown about 5 times to Hyderabad since last year. No issues whatsoever. I took my entire set of mods and atomizers and a lot of eliquid too. Now we can even buy advanced ecigs in India itself. If you live in one of the bigger cities, you can buy eliquids there, no need to carry 6 months stock.

Curious if there are any new developments in this topic? I'll be traveling to Bangalore on business in July for a week. I'll only bring enough liquid to get me through 2 weeks (always pack extra) and plan on bringing only a few mods, tank parts, etc (of course carto's for the flight). Are things still ok from a vaping standpoint there? Any laws for vaping in public I should be aware of?
