I ordered the starter kit two weeks ago because I was tired of all the fussing with tweezers, paper towels, flooded attys, frequent dripping, etc. Checkout was hassle free and it reached my door in four days from ordering. I also ordered a sample kit of four 5cc red label 18mg tobacco flavors (Marboro, Ruyan, Hilton, French Pipe) which I will refrain from discussing here. I will say that out of those the marboro was my fave as far as flavor and that I like the glass vials and the quality glass droppers. They threw in a red ball point pen with logos which was pretty neat.
I have to say that at first I was very impressed with the performance and ease of use. As far as eliminating the fuss I give it an 8 out of 10. You just load up a "tank" which is basically a plastic cart that you can load up with juice (leave ~1 cc empty), plug it in to the atty and you are ready to go.
Vapor production is on par with a 510. In fact it's the same device as an eGO/Tornado with the main difference being that the cone IS the atomizer. The batteries are interchangeable, so conceivably if you have a Tornado or eGO you could just buy the new cone atty and tank carts to save money.
Getting to the most important aspect to vaping to me: FLAVOR..well that is where it falls very short of my expectations. For the first few days I expected it to be a bit "factory-ish" and was willing to give it a few days to break in the atty. It did improve somewhat after three days. There is filler liquid in the atty so make sure you blow them out real good before using and twist up a paper towel to gently stuff in to the wick..the capillary action helps to drain liquid in the atty.
Since the forst week however, I have been having very inconsistent vaping sessions with the device. I have tried all my flavors and I just cant seem to achieve a consistent satisfying flavorful vape. I taste the plastic of the tank over the flavor of the juices. Then I might get poor vapor production, then I might get a dry or harsh flavorless throat hit.
There are simple techniques to improve the performance of the Tornado Tank such as rotating the tank to keep the hole in the tank clear, and then to take three or four "dry" short, sharp inhales without power. It does seem to improve the next several inhales. Thanks to igetcha69's video on youtube for the tutorial video for this tip.
The five sample pre-filled tank carts that came with the starter kit are tobacco flavors. I believe you can choose tobacco or menthol for this. It came with 2 "high", 2 "medium", and one "low". I tried one "high" on day three and did not expect too much from it, but it actually was *worse* than I expected. Not that it tasted bad...it was just so weak and flavorless to me. Also, the pre-filled tanks have a black mouth piece as opposed to the two blanks that came with it. I prefer the blanks as they are clear all the way to the mouth piece and you can more readily see how much liquid is remaining. I opened a second "high" pre-filled tank hoping it was a different flavor, but it was the same bland flavor, poor throat hit, and not very much vapor production. Well, my plan for the rest is to just empty them and keep them on hand for future use to re-fill with my own juices.
I have cleaned the attys regularly, maintained charged batteries, and still after two weeks I am not very satisfied with the tank system as far as flavor. I find myself reaching for my standard eGO and my 901 way too frequently.
If anyone has any tips to improve the flavor on this device please reply.
Overall, it is a great concept and eliminates 95% of the fuss with standard carts and direct dripping. It's very cool to be able to load up a cart and be good to go for the day if you are taking it out. My only issue is where is the FLAVOR? I am getting much more satisfaction from flavor, throat hit, and vapor production from the eGO and the DSE 901.
As of this writing I am 27 days analog free coinciding with my first vape on the eGo. I am at the point where I need the next level of PV device and hopefully that one will be the "one" I have been seeking. I am willing to spend good money on that one PV that delivers consistent VP, throat hit, and maximum flavor.
The Tornado tank system as of now has fallen short for me. I am sorry to say this as I generally do not take pleasure to post negatively on a company or a product.
