Hi. I am totally new to this. Been a smoker for 8 years and want to try out personal vaporizers. I used a friend's for the first time last week and I am considering one now.

I am interested in the ego twist and was wondering if it cheaper to get a kit, which runs around $85 plus tax, or to build from scratch? Do I really need the extra battery that comes with the kit?

I see a ego c twist battery 1000mah runs an average $27 dollars, with a USB charging cord running $5.
Then do I only need clearomizers/vivitank/kanger tank with replacement heads to complete my kit?

Is there anything else I'm missing? Would it be cheaper to buy these parts individually or to purchase this kit from myfreedomsmokes? Are there any other cheap and reliable stores on the east coast (preferably in the northeast) that you would recommend? I need to order by tonight or tomorrow morning so I could receive it by Thursday before a long business trip (not smelling like cigarettes before a business meeting would be REALLY nice. That is why I am trying this out)

If you want it quickly, someone mentioned the Halo kit. They're located in NJ and ship pretty quickly and they have a good selection of liquid that many like. You can always pick up a twist battery (I'd go with a Joye) later. They're interchangeable with clearos and charger.

For fast, that would be pretty fast. You could probably call them tomorrow and tell them it's a rush.

JK I didn't see the different options. Are the spinners or joys better? Also, how big are the different size batteries? Of course I would like a bigger capacity. Can I fit the 900mah joye in my (men) skinny jean pockets?

Haha, I too wear skinny jeans. Most of my vaping stuff comes with me via a hoodie in cooler weather and a fanny-pack in warmer weather. While the actual battery may fit skinny-jean pockets, the battery+clearomizer on top is a definite iffy. In my opinion, you are better off with the 650 for out of the house use and the bigger ones for at home. I have a 1300 VV ego and it is a behemoth.

I picked the Triton kit over the G6, because the coil is replaceable (and has options, for more vapor), and the tank holds 2.4 mL, and I only need to refill it once a day.

The G6 tank is 0.9mL; I'd have to refill it 3 times a day, which is easy, but the coil isn't replaceable; I'd have to purchase a new tank every ... 2 to 4 weeks?

OP: Check out the pay it forward section of ECF because there are a lot of kind experienced folks donating pvs & juices they no longer need or use. Especially to new people who need to get started. Nothing beats free I say.

You can get 2 ego 900mAh batteries, 2 ce4 clearmozers, charger and case from fasttech for under $20. That's what I recommend to my friends when they ask me. I think that's a good place to start. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!
As previously mentioned - the main problem with Fasttech is that the OP wants his kit by this Thursday - not three weeks from now. Fasttech has great prices, but there's no way he'll get his kit to the U.S. from China in four days.

I'd go with mike my vapor store link it's a good deal
Also I would suggest kanger clear's whether T3's or evod's

As far as Ctwist or spinner
I got Ctwist worked great except hard to see setting when light is not great
If I did it again Id try spinner

I wish someone showed me that before I got and ego starter kit with no VV
Like the halo kit it's a waste of time and you will wont to get a mod soon you'll see
better to skip a step rather then waste time and money like I did

Wow I just checked out fasttech and it IS considerably cheaper. I just got my brother interested in these as well. I started considering this last week but my brother on the other hand had always wanted to try but thought the initial setup would cost him a lot more. Since we are both considering it, I think it would pay off to wait two weeks.

As for this weekend, I guess I could cover up the cigarette smell with cologne. I sometimes use latex gloves to not get the smell on my hand. My coworkers always think that it is really funny.

That'd depend on the price of cigarettes in your area. If I remember right, about 3-4$ a pack in PA? They're 6$+ here in Massachusetts; my first kit was the same price as the equivalent number of packs.

I was dependent on mints and hand sanitizer, for masking odors, and even that didn't work all that well. Ah, memories...

I would definately do a kit if you are new. You will have everything you need right in front of you. See how you like it and build from there. If something doesnt work you can get a replacement. Myfreedomsmokes is pretty quick with shipping and good about returns. I actually did a lot of my purchases from there when i switched to egos.

My Freedom Smokes is a registered ECF supplier and that looks like a pretty decent starter (in fact, it looks almost exactly like what I have though I put mine together buying from different vendors). Jazzi Mike's suggestion of the My Vapor Store kit actually costs a bit less and is a great kit also (MVS is another registered ECF supplier, so both are "known quantities" around here and reputable).

My only concern about the Freedom Smokes one are the 1.8 ohm heads. That's a little low for a starter. You'd have to be careful of the voltage setting. You could burn them out. I wouldn't go below 2.4 until you understand more about what you're doing.

Though, I gotta say, I don't agree with Jazzi that CE5s are "garbage". That's all I use and they last way longer than a couple of weeks. Haven't replaced one yet and not even sure how long I've had them. In the last couple months, I've had one coil head konk out. But that's a $3 part and I bought extras ages ago. That said, EVODs and Vivi Novas are really popular. Lots of fans.

Both kits come with all the basics you need except the actual e-liquid. We all end up adding widgets as we go but you don't have to do that right off. For that matter, it's better to get started and figure out what you actually like and what works for you before you start ordering extras. If nothing else, it takes a little time to figure out which liquids you like. You have to do some sampling and trying out to figure out which ones you enjoy and that keep you off the cigs.

Far as location, Freedom is in NC. My Vapor is on the East Coast but I'm not sure where exactly. My impression is further north but don't quote me? We have a Forum Supplier section here. Good place to find reputable vendors when you're new. And they're listed with regions (like "East Coast").

Do I really need the extra battery that comes with the kit?

Yeah, you do. You could start with one but the large capacity batteries (my Twists are 1000mAh and last me, oh, six hours or so) take time to charge. Mine are aging and take about 4 hours to charge up now. Having to wait 4 hours to get my vape would drive me batty. :)

You want to be able to have one charging while using the other. Otherwise you could find yourself thinking, "Hm... I could get a packa smokes...".
