    Hello and welcome back to today's review of something that I hope starts to be reintroduced into the vaping community, I'm talking about rebuildables as in tanks or as today's selection RDA's ( Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer ). The Tauren Vortex 30 is a big beast of a dripper having a 30mm diameter with 2 deep wick wells ( 10.5mm ) with a capacity of 2.5ml. The Vortex 30 is a dual coil RDA with a postless deck that makes it a very easy RDA to build on. For those of you that squonk I'm happy to report that a squonk pin is also included with the Vortex 30, as a matter of fact ThunderHead Creations provides everything needed to use this RDA (coils, Coil Leg Trimmer, Spare Screws and O-Rings, Bottom Feeding Pin and 2 Allen Drivers, all you need to provide yourself is wicking material. After some product information I'll give you my findings.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS

    Packaging for the RDA was done nicely with a clear cellophane window showing the Vortex 30, opening the box shows the coil leg cutting tool sitting above the RDA. Underneath both of them are the coils, user manual, warranty card, allen drivers and spare O-rings, spare screws ( both allen and flat head ) and QC card.

    I have been a big fan of ThunderHead Creations from past reviews I've done with their vape gear of tanks and drippers and was hopeful the large Tauren 30 RDA would follow in past performances.

    When I said earlier this was a beast I wasn't kidding so I had to go through some older mods to find one that would fit this RDA without any overhang. I wanted to use this on a squonk device but wasn't about go digging through the many bins of vape gear but I found a device that accepts a 30mm atomizer. Right off the bat I wasn't a fan of the short 810 drip tip but you can use one of your own standard 810 drip tips which is what I did. I did try using it but it's just too short for my liking.

    When I began to break the device down the inner chamber was very tight and I had to use the bottom of a Sharpie pen to push it out from the outer barrel, when shipped no lube is installed on the O-rings but after a little vape juice was applied to them things move much easier.

    The RDA breaks down for cleaning into 4 pieces including the drip tip, as I always do with any new atomizer I broke it down for a long soak in hot soapy water, no machine oil or residue was present but just to be on the safe side this is a practice that I always do.

    The inner chamber directs the airflow down from the 84 holes on the outer barrel and acts as a heatsink as well keeping the outer barrel and drip tip cool.

    The inner barrel locks into place with the outer barrel through a small grove that locks into place from a small tab located inside the outer barrel, when putting the pieces back together make sure the grove of the inner barrel lines up with the tab inside the outer barrel.

    This tab also allows hard stops for the airflow so the outer barrel doesn't spin around freely.

    I really like how the build deck is set up for a very easy build and being postless it couldn't get any easier. the coil cutting jig has the correct marking in the shape of a triangle pointing up where to place the coil for cutting the legs. I used the provided coils and they produce great flavor.

    If you like massive airflow the Tauren Vortex 30 provides it with the ability to also cut down to a great RDL vape. Having side airflow using 10 slots and 2 large bottom side holes allows for the massive air.

    ThunderHead Creations gives you the choice of using allen head screws or flat head as they provide both extras in the spares bag, I chose to use what the RDA shipped with already installed.
    The coils came out to 0.11Ω on my coil jig in the pictures but my battery was low on the build jig. Once installed on the mod the Ohms reading came out to 0.13Ω.

    After a dry burn of the coils to burn off any oil or residue that might have been on them it was time for wicking, cut your wicks on the longer side because of the 10.5mm juice wells and remember to lift the coils up a bit keeping the legs off the deck to avoid a short. Once on the mod it looked like it was meant for it with no overhang and proportionally correct.

    FINAL IMPRESSIONS

    It was nice to see a rebuildable atomizer instead of the many pod devices flooding the vaping community and this one is a definite winner. Because of it's design the outer barrel and drip tip stay cool and it's the inner barrel that's responsable.

    I think the flavor is great and that's with the airflow reduced, fully open the flavor suffers but that's to be expected. Airflow noise increases with more airflow as well.

    ThunderHead Creations really did a great job with the Tauren Vortex 30 and I will have to make space for it on my desk as it's going into my personal rotation of devices. I have no real cons for this atomizer other than the drip tip being too short but that's a personal preference.

    Everything else on this atomizer is all PROS!!!

    * EASY BUILD DECK

    * STAYS COOL TO THE TOUCH

    * GREAT FLAVOR

    * SMOOTH AIRFLOW

    * MASSIVE CLOUD MAKER

    * SQUONK PIN INCLUDED

    I would like to thank Ally and ThunderHead Creations for providing the Tauren Vortex 30 RDA for my review and I would also like to thank all of you that read my reviews.

    THANK YOU
