Thanks. That eases my desire to take it apart while it's working.

Interesting note, my white lines are not there now but when it goes to the lighter screen saver I can see the black lines still are.
I’m more than happy to share. I’ll see if I can order a replacement TFT screen for it and try that along with a new mod. Come to think of it, that connector is located right under the bottom of the screen. It may be possible that juice leaked into the ribbon cable connection on the display itself. Either way, my current one is whooped. I’ll post with any updates on it as well as my response from smoant on the issue. By all means to the OP of this thread, this mod is by far the best bang for the buck I’ve spent my money on. Faulty screen or not, it still performs its task and nothing else is broken.

*UPDATE: since emailing them my concerns of the screen, they automatically replied requesting information for warranty repair. I’ll be impressed if it’s warranted even with me cracking the screen. I probably will just order a new one either way because I love this thing so much, and at an avg price point of $50, I might as well spend the extra $30-$20 onto of the $20 It’d take to ship to China for repairs on a new mod in 4-5 days than my only mod and be down for atleast 3 weeks without a vape. I refuse to use my nemesis clone again as a backup.. it’s times like this I miss the days of my provari v2.5. Before sub-ohm Vaping.. lol.

Got mine wearing a gold OBS Engine Nano today (Strawberry Gummy by Glas). I'll be watching how your screen issues go, so far so good on mine (crosses fingers).

I wish you best of luck. It kills me, because the mod works flawlessly besides that screen. If I could find a replacement screen for it (or 10 just because I’m a bit rough on my mods), I’d replace the screen myself. The hardest part of replacing that screen is finding the right star bits to remove the screws in the top side of the device. After that, the 510 connectirvsection and top plate and internals slip out in a single piece., and then it’s working the epoxy off the screen holder on the board. Unclip the FCC connector, and boom. Reverse order of operation to reassemble. The only tricky part was getting the internals and 510/top panel to slide in and keep the fire and scroll buttons in as they are free floating and not secured to the case. Either way, enjoy! Definatley will keep you all posted. No reply from Smoant yet since I’ve sent my warranty documents to them at about 12PM EST.

(P.S. think I’m liking the gunmetal more than my black. I’ll put an order in soon on a new one.)

**UPDATE #2: So, they contacted me back. They’re going to ship me out a new mod. I just need to pay the $20 shipping fee via PayPal for DHL to ship. no fuss about anything. I keep my current mod as well. I’m leary in paypal, but I guess that’s how it works internationally. I asked for the gunmetal version instead of the black. They replied yes without any hesitation. Info was sent. Here’s to snail mail and hoping I don’t get ripped off. They said it should ship out in 2-3 days. As soon as I receive it, I’ll post pics and go over the tear down with pictures for those interested. Sorry if there’s a better place for that on the forum. I’m just trying to set minds at ease on the build quality of this mod inside and out.

that’s great news. Also you shouldn’t be Leary of PayPal. They are legit and offer an extra layer of security for your transaction.

That’s a sigh of relief. I’m just so use to hearing PayPal getting hacked. Financials aside, I’m very pleased with Smoants customer service. It sucks they’re a 12 hour difference of me for contact purposes, but the fact they honored a customer with an issue beyond the original cause tickled me pink. I didn’t even have to ship back my broken mod to them. So, I get a new mod for $20, and have mine in the mean time to boot. I’m very pleased. Only thing that sucks is waiting the 3 weeks for it to be at my door :/ . But that’s expected. Aside from that, double thumbs up ladies and gents. Not only do you get a banging mod for the buck, but also stellar customer service and satisfaction. (Attached is what I’m currently working with for the time being..)

Btw, I’ve looked into replacement screens for this mod online. I’ve found one supplier, but it’s from China only (surprise...not) $10 for the screen, $35 to ship to US. $45 for a screen is a bit steep to repair a $50 mod.. lol. Looks like I’ll be rocking a broken screen cylon and just vape by feel until my new one is shipped. Wish there was s local supplier of these screens in the US. I’d fix this thing for about $5.

*UPDATE 3: whelp, after a week of waiting with my grueling time with my old Nemesis Hcigar clone from years ago, I got my replacement cylon. (would’ve been here last Friday, but shipping service sent to Mexico instead of PA..) so far so good. This model passed QC inspection in May (I’d assume that’s mfg date). All is well. No lines on screen, everything functional and in tip top shape. I’d like to find out the FW version of the board currently (I’ll tinker with that later). They shipped me the same color I had, but no big deal. It looks better with my current tank. I have teardown photos of my old cylon as well if interested.

Well crap, now I have 6 lines. They're white when it's cold, the 2nd batch of 3 fade in. They're always there in black.

If you still have the box ur mod came in, open it up and find the white QC business card and read the mfg date. (Should be stamped in blue ink with month and year). I’m curious as to what date it was made. So far March (my old cylons mfg date) is a dud with screens. I’m trying to decipher the cause of the issue. I’m 99% sure it’s the screen itself being the problem. I just do not know if heat and electrical current have a factor in the issue. From what I’ve read online, horizontal lines on an lcd/tft display like that are the result of a fault in the display itself.

    January 2018.
I haven't turned it on in a while. 3 white lines, 3 more lines fade in (and stay white on the above screen). Turn it on again, puff, and now they're all there and black. It may not be warming up with temperature but could be something with electricity flowing through the screen. Mine does change depending on use.

Really love this mod, though I have to say, I still prefer the feel of the Battlestar in my hand, just seems to sit more comfortably, that said, the Cylon has many more bells and whistles that I need, the VW curve is great for hitting coils with a high watt blast before tailing off and tweaking it up again at the end of the curve. Looks so damn good too!!! The Battlestar is probably just more comfortable down to familiarity with the feel. I'll get used to the more boxy feel I'm sure. Plus of course, you wouldn't get the (hopefully not problematic) colour screen with the Battlestar form factor.

I wouldn't normally bother with wallpaper but just had to have a Cylon right :) I was looking for one with Cylon 6 (OMG - the series is worth repeat watching just for her LOL - Cylon 6 my favourite robot, Celine my fave vampire) but can't get one where the figures on the screen show up well, then again, the subdued colour bar where the numbers are and the Smoant logo obscure much of the background any way.

Actually, thinking about it, there is one thing that I definitely don't like about the Cylon vs the Battlestar. The battery door opening at the bottom. I don't have a problem with the construction of it (I think some review, possibly beta, models had a problem with it flipping open too easily), albeit it is a bit flimsy for my liking, but it's a pain that you have to take some attys off to avoid juice spilling out just to change the batteries, on the Battlestar it was easier, flip the back panel off and change, no need to think have I drained this RDA enough or does this RTA leak. Thankfully you don't have to do it too often, and I guess there's less of a problem with a hinge / clip mechanism vs magnets over time, still not keen though.

Mine just came in from Element Vape. Very Impressive mod! Granted, I've been out of it for a few years, and previously my high watt mod was the Siegli 100 (which is a good mod as well, and built for abuse), but this Smoant Cylon puts it to shame. Quick hit, VV, TC,wallpaper (why? who knows, but it's kind of neat) This paired up with a Freemax Fireluke Mesh Tank (with the 5ML bulb glass) puts me on cloud 9! So much vape, good taste, just a tad hot, but I am looking for a longer 810 drip tip (a seemingly hard task when it shouldn't be). I haven't had a dry hit yet. In the couple of years that I was back on analog it looks like the tech has kept progressing well. I can still get my Arctic Wolf from VaporGod, so I'm a happy camper!
I have the freemax mesh pro with the dual coil on mine right now and its a nice match even at 85 watts the cylon hits instantly. Very impressed with this mod
