hi all,

Currently using the subox mini and thinking of getting kanger's occ replacement coils.

2 questions:
Will the new ssocc and clapton work on the subox?
Should i get the old vertical occ, ssocc or the clapton?

Thanks :)

An SSOCC is dependent on the capability of your mod, not your tank. Can your Mod handle stainless steel coils? And if you're talking about Clapton, you should be talking about an RBA right? I don't think there's such a thing as a Clapton OCC, though correct me if I'm wrong.

No, it is not.
Turns out... the "SS" refers to the material of the body of the coil head, not the wire.
Damn you Kanger. :p

Both the older square heads and the new round SSOCC models will fit, and work, with any current Kanger Sub Tank. Choose the proper "mode".

Here's the deal with the new SSOCC heads' WIRES...
Pink O-Ring... Stainless Steel wire. Power or SS TC mode, your choice.
Blue O-Ring... Nickel wire. Ni TC mode ONLY.
Black O-Ring... "Clapton" coil. Probably Kanthal, Power Mode ONLY.
Red O-Ring... NiChrome wire. Power Mode only. Made to use with the NiCh TC mode on the brand new Kanger TC mods. Doesn't actually TC according to reports.
More work needed... we'll see. No other mods can TC it (TCR 0011ish... doesn't work).

That's it. Enjoy.

And if you find a US source for the Pink ring SS heads... post it.
I want them and they're still pretty rare.

Plenty of Clapton factory heads out there now, more coming soon, they're "fashionable".
Have to try some myself, actually. But they do exist.

Oh I get it, is it those OCC's that were introduced together with the Kanger Nebox? Cause the Nebox for example isn't compatible with the "old" square OCC, just the new thin and circular OCC that comes with it. But yes, he's right about the Colours, it determines the type of coil, so better get the right type haha

Wow a Clapton OCC, that sounds convenient since it's SO troublesome (at least for me) to make claptons myself haha. Tell me how it is if you ever try them man!

Sorry... what?

"OCC" just means "Organic Cotton w/Coil"... which is becoming pretty generic at this point.
As in... a factory head.
No one mentioned the Nebox, but perhaps that's where our confusion lies.
I'm speaking strictly about tanks, not mods. I've no idea the details of the Nebox (I don't own a K mod).

But everything I said about the Kanger SSOCC factory heads is... correct.
(not with the Nebox "tank' ? I've never had a squonker.)

And yes... there are several brands with factory Clapton heads available now.
And several more about to ship. They're quite popular.

BTW...
Glad you do, but not everyone (nor even a tiny fraction, actually) has a setup for making Claptons.

Thanks everyone for the discussion, the subox mini mod is 50W with no TC, so I guess im stuck with using the non TC OCCs (red - NiChrome, black - clapton).

I assume subox mini starter kit is a pretty common setup here so anyone has experience with both the old OCCs (squarehead vertical occs that came with the subox mini) vs the new non-TC OCCs (roundhead "so called SS" OCC or Clapton)? Purpose here is to find out difference in voltage required, longevity of coils, flavour/vapour production! :)

Yes, I know what's an OCC haha, and no, it's that that I'm confused, it's the Nebox that's confusing. The Nebox is a mod AND a tank built into one, so yes I was talking about the Nebox "tank" per se. It was pretty troublesome to let the coils glow properly with the Nebox tank/mod so I gave it my Friend instead haha. I only got it cause I thought it looked "girly" for me, oh I wish I knew the trouble beforehand. My fault for not looking into it properly first ^^"

Cool, maybe I'll look around about the Clapton OCC's and see what tanks they're suitable for haha. Thanks for the info!
