sub-ohm tank has less flavor?

I get what you're saying, although I don't think it's necessarily less flavor.

I think that juices, even the same ones, taste very different on different setups. My wife still uses an e-go and a nautilus mini, where I have moved on to sub-ohm tanks and RDAs. Occasionally, I'll load up a juice that I know very well for her and it will be completely different in her basic setup. And occasionally, for the better.

I think a lot of it has to do with juice, as well as setup.

Yes it is normal, but I'm sure a sub ohmer will be along shortly to say just the opposite. lol

ha~~ I believe so, as I saw many thread that people say sub-ohm has more flavor~~
I recently bought a e-juice call "Square drops??" it has a very thin taste, when I use it in the GS-tank, it almost has nothing taste. That's why I come up with this question.

I have found there is definitely a loss of flavor in the "sub ohm" tanks when compared to a Kayfun style tank or a bottom coil standard tank or a flavor dripper.

I have tried eliquid specifically made for high volume vaping and it was way way over flavored for use in a Kayfun. It was like drinking undiluted soda syrup.

I feel the flavor transforms at different wattage, I don't think it is less or more just different. I find some of the flavors I love in a high ohm tank are terrible in a subtank and vice versa. I don't like custards in sub ohm tanks at all but I feel I get a lot more out of many of the fruity flavors at low ohms/high wattage. I also find that using an RDA I often get a totally different flavor than I do out of any tanks and it varies greatly depending on the build (I usually build low ohm .2-.5)

It lies between three things to find your flavor spot on sub ohm, the ambient temperature of your liquid/viscosity, the wattage you're vaping at and the mix of your juice vs the ohm's of your coil.

I'll just say I'm using a .5 ohm coil (pretty standard these days in tanks)...

If I'm vaping my usual 75/25 VG/PG I get much better flavor around 22.3 Watts if the ambient temperature is moderate. If its very hot outside like 90+ I have to up the wattage to about 26.7 to achieve the same flavor because the VG will become thinner at a higher temperature and I need to produce more vapor to achieve my flavor..

Now when I'm vaping a higher pg flavor like 60/40 or 50/50 I don't need as many watts to achieve the flavor, with the same setup I can vape it between 17.9 or if its hot outside maybe 19.1, PG is a very good flavor conveyor, it's much thinner and takes less watts to vape but produces less vapor.

If you're not making your own juice and buy from different manufacturers the viscosity of your juice is always going to be different, some manufacturers will add thinners to their juice, the best thing to do is start at a low wattage and slowly increase your wattage until you find your flavor zone.

Hope this helps :D

One small point; If you are using a regulated device the resistance itself does not matter. What matters is the ratio of surface area to watts produced e.g. mW/mm^2

I am not sure which sub-forum I should put this topic, so I put it here.
I have two tank (Aspire Nautilus mini and Eleaf GS tank), when I use my Nautilus 1.8 ohm coil (for example, I vape halo tribeca) I feel the taste is sweeter than I use my GS tank (0.15 ohm TC).
Is it normal for all the sub-ohm tank?

It is normal for one eliquid to taste different on two different tanks.
Even the same tank but with two different coils, will taste different.

There's tonnes of things that can effect flavor really like the density of your wick I guess. Surface area does play a huge roll though!! thanks for pointing it out!

No problem

A lot of people don't understand that resistance only matters when using unregulated devices. 50W is 50W coming from a 0.5 ohm 22awg coil or a 1 ohm quad parallel 28 awg. The difference is how much area that heat is being produced over. (The quad parallel has more surface area)

You sir, are the first person I've ever met that shares my sentiments on this.
I think most people are seriously hung up on the idea of sub ohm vaping.

Two things I might add,

Ramp up time on thinner wire is faster
and
It seems like higher resistance coils are more efficient for me.
Even though you are running at higher voltages, your amperage draw will be significantly less and yield a longer run time.

This only really gives me an hour or two longer from my batteries, but over the course of the next 10 years, I imagine I will have gone through many less batteries than those who insist on running super sub ohm.

I think most people find a two variable equation to be beyond their faculties.

I find with TC that different juices like different temperatures. Custards etc like higher temps, fruits like lower ones. Theoretically, using temp control should make the flavour shine, but only at the right temperature. I have seen some manufacturers have started putting recommended temperatures on their bottles which I think is a great idea.

It is also very much to do with the coils. Large coils i.e. 3mm will give more clouds, but not as much flavour. I have found IMO that 2mm is great for flavour, but you can't have too much power/heat going through it as the juice will overcook. You can get great flavour from sub ohm builds, but I find that 0.8 to 1.2 ohms is a great playing field for great flavour if using non TC builds.

TC coils are sub-ohm because you would need a deck the size of an aircraft carrier to get over an ohm...IMO they're not a true representation of what sub-ohming is actually like
Very true. Totally agree. It can get confusing. I build NI200 coils at 0.06, which on paper is sub ohm by the nature of the name, but it's completely different. It's things like this that keep us vapers awake at night! lol
